Funny thing about black and white. You mix it together and you get gray. And it doesn't matter how much white you try and put back in, you're never gonna get anything but gray.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Someone tell me where I can find the asshole who decided my cough drop wrappers needed to contain pep talk messages. You know what I don't want when I feel like razors are shredding my throat? A fucking pep talk.

oh joy! Oh Rapture ! I have a brain!

Looking at the low glycemic diet -- ginger and turmeric. I've read a bunch of studies that Turmeric is a well-known anti- inflammatory. I learned about it when I was having an asthmaish day - I ate something curry flavored and suddenly felt miraculously better . and then I read about it. While I don't think it will cure anything - I think I would be beneficial.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Is there preventative stuff for arthritis? My whole family has it, so I'm pretty much guaranteed to get it. But I need my hands! I use them a lot; I'm a musician! And, you know, also for the typing on the internets.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Teppy in terms of the no nightshades diet (no potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, sweet peppers (green, red, yellow, orange etc) no hot peppers (chili pepper etc) - a) No scientific evidence for it.None. b) My Mother is on it an it helps a lot - as in she works out 3 days a week at the gym normally but if she cheats she has to walk with cane for a few days.

So on the no nightshades things (which is a misnomer cause you can have white and black pepper on it, even though those are nightshades) it is worth a try but does not work for everybody. Good thing about it. Anyone I know it has worked for you get really noticeable improvement within 3 days. So if Tim wants to he can test it for three days and if it does not work, cross off the list. No need to give it a long test.

Our wings are not tired.

I'd be delighted to add ginger and turmeric, and could dump potatoes and eggplant, but the lack of tomatoes and peppers in my life would be a hardship I don't think I could bear.

After going through bunion surgery for the hope of doing another marathon in my life I started having pain in the top of my foot. Doctor says it is arthritis! Really doc, it wasn't there before the surgery. Grrr.

I know Glucosamine and Chondroitin helped a great deal for my knees and hips when I did a lot of mileage. A Lot.

Our wings are not tired.

Yeah, the surgeon tried to pass it off as unrelated, but it didn't come on that quickly. It kind of defeats the purpose.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

The main thing you can to to possibly prevent or reduce arthritis is try to relieve stress on the joints. That can include ergonomic workspaces and addressing any mechanical issues that affect the feet and knees. Also, pick your ancestors wisely.

The only diet changes I know of with any research support are a Mediterranean-style diet and drinking more milk.
