Well, Gary got the phone working.(I guess the battery had gotten out of place or something.)
On the down side, my folks just told me my uncle went into hospice care. Fuck cancer.

I'm so sorry, Sheryl. Does he live near you?
He lives in Connecticut. It could be anywhere from two weeks to two months. I don't even know if I'll be able to go to the funeral.
That is difficult. I hope that he has support nearby and that his passing is as peaceful as possible.
I'm sorry, Sheryl.
I'm sorry, Sheryl.
Juliebird, I'm glad you didn't have to deal with paid intern's extended shenanigans. Wishing you much success with the next one.
I'm sorry, Sheryl.
So Tropical Cyclone Ita, equivalent of a Cat 4 US, is about to hit the part of Far North Queensland I traveled around. Cooktown has evac'd their hospital and is looking at severe damage. [link]
Laura,
My aunt is around, but she's been taking care of him since he got sick. My folks will be heading back to CT in a week, so hopefully they will get to see him.
I'm glad your parents are able to go. Hospice care is a huge help to families.
I would not want to be anywhere near a Cat 4. I'd stay home for a Cat 2, anything higher than that and I am hitting the road. Maybe even a 2 if I knew it was going to be a direct hit in time. At least with hurricanes we get lots of advance warning, although Wilma was not expected to cross state and wallop us like it did.
