I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm also sad about TWOP although, like many, I haven't been there in ages. OTW sounds like a great idea, if they have the interest and time.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

When I worked at JCPenney as a sales associate, the rule was that a manager could not give out an evaluation that was high than they themselves recieved

That is BONKERS.

The upside is I got REALLY good news about my own job today (good news as in, it will continue to exist) so our kids won't be completely destitute. Yet.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

That is good news, Jess! And, I mean, the kids will be working soon themselves, right?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

ED is talking about delaying the termination until Wednesday. No! I can't spend even a single day working alongside her knowing what I know. But more importantly, the new hort staff start on Tuesday and I can't contrive push off their start dates with her thinking she's still in charge (or more accurately still being in actual charge of the department. Gah! If he does it first thing on Tuesday I'll only have to push off the one intern to later in the day or the next day. Otherwise I'll have to push them both off until Thursday. But how other than giving some bs excuse to the new hires and lying outright to the boss lady?

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Way to go shrift!

Sorry to hear about TWOP, especially for the writers it will impact.

I think my brain has shut down. Too bad I have another hour to be at my desk.

I think that's the simplest method, actually. The boss lady won't be around long enough for you to be impacted by the lie, and new hires generally don't realize they're being fed bs. And if the bs is actually something about confusing and unforeseen delays, then it's not really bs.

I've found BS to be a standard component of business life.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

I've seen cases where people figured out they were fired because of stuff being rescheduled around or without them.

I think it's pretty outrageous to tell a person's underlings they are getting fired that far in advance of actually doing it. You shouldn't be in that position anyway! But just have the new people start as scheduled.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I am deliberately scheduling a necessary out of state trip so I can avoid her on Monday. I really don't want her getting her poisonous mitts on the new hires, or bringing them to witness -even if only by her sudden absence- her termination.

I'd rather she wer just never seen by them again and we can tell the she resigned or something. That's how my first internship started, actually (but he really did resign).
