Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

You know, in general I know that comparing yourself to others rarely works out, but it is so windy outside, I thought I'd check the map! [link] And New England looks like nothing compared to that central corridor. Yikes.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I think my lunch is going to be split-pea soup and cheese melted on a corn tortilla. And maybe a banana.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

It is quite windy here today, and as it's also recycling day, that's not working out too well.

Because books.

It's really windy here, too.

Shocking new school lice policies

I guess it makes sense, the way he explains it.

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

sarameg, that policy is bonkers. I can't imagine any way that a serious attempt to adhere to it would lead to anything but the office environment demon baby of Ayn Rand and Lord of the Flies. I hope there's a metric shitton of pushback.

Fun conversation this morning:

Co-Worker: I can't believe they put my mother on Zoloft! She's on a hundred milligrams a day. That's too much. She must be high as a kite. That terrible drug! Why would they do that?

Me: I'm on a hundred fifty a day.

Co-Worker: ...

We then had a longer, better talk about the mechanisms of various ADs and her mom's differential diagnoses and the importance in controlling anxiety in patients with memory loss and conflict-and-uncertainty-avoidance issues, and it turned out okay. But... fuuuuck, that was not how I wanted to start the morning. It's just that there was no way I could sit there and listen to that and say nothing.

Good for you, though, JZ. People need to know what's up!

I ate too much phở for lunch. Like you do.

I got to work at 7:30am, which allowed me to get some stuff done before training started at 8:30am. I'm leaving at 4:30 regardless of what my inbox looks like.
