I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

My neighbor had a box like that. Hers had a lot of 60s mod stuff and some lingerie things that made great princess accessories.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I totally had, and loved, a dress-up trunk! Good one.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Wow, I sure had a deprived childhood.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

The beauty of baby boomer parents is that I think half the ridiculous dress-up stuff I had was actual clothes my mother actually wore in the 60s/70s. I remember a skirt with little mirrors sewn on to it.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Arrrgh. So, I've been emailing with the managing editor of another journal about another freelance job. And the job is mine if I want it. So yesterday I sent an email indicating that yes, I do want it, and what are the next steps to go forward?

The fucking email has been coming back with a permanent "undeliverable" error message for 24 hours now. Should I call him? I don't want him to think I'm a flake.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Yeah, that sounds like a situation where calling is a good idea.

They're 1 hour behind me, so if I assume business hours of 9-5, should I call after 10 or so, since there always seems to be some fire to put out first thing in the morning?

That sounds right.

I can already tell today is going to be aggravating.

Yeah, you don't want the phone to be ringing just as they're coming in.

Happy Spring! I am wearing my butterfly print skirt to celebrate. Apologies to people who do not have Spring weather yet. And happy Autumn to the southern hemispherical, I think? My googling to find out exactly what time Spring starts tells me that's how y'all roll, so the seasons have weather that we would recognize from the name...
