On my seventh birthday, I wanted a toy fire truck, and I didn't get it, and you were real nice about it, and then the house next door burnt down, and then real firetrucks came, and for years I thought you set the fire for me. And if you did, you can tell me!

Jesse, we are doing gardening this year using minifarm box: [link] We'll do a 4x4 with an extra extender, but I love the table one and the rolling cart one.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I saw those (or similar) at Home Depot when we got the composter. I love the table one! I thought, I could grow tomatoes and lettuces in it, easily. (The problem with growing anything at ground level in our tiny backyard is that the dog can get to it and pee on it, which he will do, no question. It doesn't seem like being subjected to daily dog business could be good for a baby garden. But maybe I'm wrong about that.)

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Congrats, brenda!

We went to a friend's house to celebrate St Patrick's Day and their son, a senior, generously took my kids under his wing and let them play Nintendo games and then taught Isaac how to play Magic: The Gathering. Great guy!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

And, we have achieved cottage.

Woo! Have you been there (or nearby) at night? Good stargazing potential?

brenda, that's adorable. Reminds me a bit of the cottage my folks had in New Hampshire when I was growing up: it was on a canal as well, with a big back porch. I love the deck overlooking the water, that will be lovely in the summer.

Oooh, looks like the 8 hour standoff on Lake Shore Drive is finally over. What a mess.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

Ouch, meara! I've had a big toenail torn in its nail bed. Hurts like hell! (lost the toenail too)
