Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Way to go Suzi!

My parents' house is on well water. No electricity, no water. And if the well runs dry, it's hella expensive to dig another. They've been in the house 40 years and had to dig a new one after 20-25 years. It ran almost $12,000. If the pump breaks, it's almost as expensive and you might as well dig a new one, though that may have changed in the last few years. Well water often needs water softener, and we don't ever drink it. I tested our water for a science fair project and the lead content was ridiculously high. Bonus? You're never paying for water.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

It cost us a thousand bucks just to pull the pump up to look at it to see if a screw was loose. But our well was at 850 feet.

The problem with rewatching Veronica Mars is it makes me want a psychotic jackass of my own...:)

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Oh man, I feel terrible this morning. And I have a shitload of work to do tomorrow. I would think about trying to work from home, but I don't think I'll have access to the stuff I need. Argh.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

To me, it's not a cabin if it's easy to see other cabins/houses. Also, I don't see a fireplace in that one, which is also a cabin-defining component.

It may turn out that I'm as definite about my cabins as I am about my bagels.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Bleah. Hate losing an hour.

The tiny giggle you heard this morning was me using the DST button on my radio-alarm-clock, trying to imagine the Sony engineers discussing what to do with an extra button slot. I imagine one of them really hates DST.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I "slept in" this morning but I am kind of dreading tomorrow. I know I'll adjust eventually, but those first few mornings in the dark are no fun. ETA: and the DST switch on my alarm clock (which, to be fair, I don't actually use) doesn't do anything anymore. But it's set to the right-ish time today, so I'll worry about that later. Or not.

Sorry to hear that, Jesse. Maybe if you take it easy today tomorrow you'll feel better?

I am not definite about cabins or bagels. I could probably manage okay with Theo's castoffs.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am hoping today is the worst day! That would be OK. I had tea this morning instead of coffee, since it was so late and I should go to bed early.

I'm all aggravated that I have to fix my stove clock myself, because my alarm clock takes care of itself, and I don't actually have any other clocks up.

I should probably reset the clocks that don't set themselves now while I'm thinking about it. There are four, iirc: the timer the bathroom space heater is plugged into, the thermostat, the one kitchen timer that also has a clock, and the clock radio in the kitchen.
