I'll just jump in my time machine, go back to the twelfth century, and ask the vampires to postpone their ancient prophesy for a few days while you take in dinner and a show.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

And, invariably, a girl who has gone through with a short cut—and is pleased with the changes in her reception—is damaged in some significant way. Short hair is a near-guarantee that a girl will be more abrasive, more masculine, and more deranged.

Well, I am abrasive and deranged. Especially when confronted with horsetwaddle like that.

brillig

Hubby would never say a woman is deranged etc., but he has never found a woman with short hair attractive. He has looked as some good-looking women with short hair and said, "She'd be so pretty with long hair, it's a shame." But he ascribes no spiritual or personality attributes to the choice.

edit: at least out loud.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Short hair is a near-guarantee that a girl will be more abrasive, more masculine, and more deranged.

That makes me think of this post from geekfeminism - It's Easier Now That I Look Like A Guy.

But this, oh my:

Women instinctively know this, which is why every American girl who cuts, and keeps, her hair short often does it for ulterior reasons. Short hair is a political statement.

It's true! Wait, does the ability to take a five-minute shower and use a minuscule amount of hair dye count as political statements? It's entirely possible I'm using that word wrong.

(Disclaimer: At the moment I have long hair, but in my world hair is always a temporary condition that could change without notice at any time.)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

I assume none of the manly men who wrote this have hair that extends past their shirt collars? And they all think men with long hair are girly men who secretly long for the embrace of Rock Hudson?

[Note to self: check Tim's wallet for picture of Rock Hudson. Replace with picture of Hiddleston.]

Quick, somebody call David Bowie!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I follow the man boobz blog. The guy who runs it manages to find amazingly vile misogynistic shit to make fun of. I wonder how many men believe the extreme stuff found in that blog--I keep on thinking, "Not that many men could actually believe this." And then I worry I'm wrong.

Pretty sure you're wrong.

To be fair, this is the internet. You can find That Many people who believe just about anything.

Ever since I was the victim of homophobic harassment in college I've tried very hard to steer clear of homophobic and misogynistic assholes. I've had a fair amount of success at this, but then again I rarely meet new people.

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

Some people say vile misogynistic shit about geese.
