Look, you got a little stabbed the other day. That's bound to make anyone a mite ornery.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Is that Kristen Bell's voice on the IBM ads? It sounds like her. Actually, it specifically sounds like her on House of Lies, which makes me very suspicious of what they are trying to sell me.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I am making venison enchiladas for the games today, so I think I can resist the apple pie cake? I think.

I made a double batch so half will freeze. It smells so good right now I need to go pull it out of the oven and eat it all right this minute.

Or wait. I could wait.

I don't know, venison and apple sound like they would pair well. Those enchiladas sound pretty great on their own, though. Yay double batch!

I have roasted pecans and am now simmering duck eggs in tea and roasting butternut squash. It's all Autumnal in my kitchen today.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Don't become one of those sad poster people for Ice Cream Deficiency. You can overcome it!

I can! But that would entail putting on a bra. If I still want it tomorrow I'll walk downtown to the ice cream parlor and get exercise and a nutritional supplement. Because health!

Venison enchiladas also sound good.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Turned out so good. Yum.

Because books.

My recommendation for the apple pie cake is to replace 1 cup of the oil with sour cream

Oh, I like that idea. It's absolutely delicious but it is very straightforward, so a little tang would be nice.

I haven't trusted science since I saw the film "Flubber."

I was all set to make snickerdoodles until I realized I didn't have enough cinnamon. Now I'm bummed.

Oh, no, cookie-blocked!

No apple pis cake, because I do not have a springform pan. Big pot of chili simmering on stove and improvised chili cheesy tater tot half casserole in the oven, though.

And everything else everyone is cooking sounds delicious. Even the snicker doodles that aren't to be.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Do you have pumpkin pie spice? I use that and call them oopsidoodles.
