Right? (I should note that the Mount Tabo eruption idea is controversial. It happened, and it was big, but you don't see much impact on other species overall, including those more sensitive to environmental change. The existence of a genetic bottleneck at the time is also open to interpretation. Still, this map is pretty cool.)

I usually have about 130 students at the beginning of the semester, and about 30 of them drop the class during the course of the semester. By the end of the semester, I'll usually be able to match the names and faces of maybe 50 of the ones who are left.
