Zoe: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing? Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

This seems to be the part of the broken bone experience where it aches and vaguely itches no matter what you do to keep it still.

A drop or two of laudanum would go over nicely about now.

I went to TJs on Saturday and bought a couple of jars of coconut oil. 1 for cooking and 1 to experiment as a moisturizer like was being discussed (here or bitches?) anyway, just one night putting it on my lips before bed and they are much much better. so YAY!

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I almost (but not quite) feel guilty at our balmy weather here in SF.

After I dropped Matilda off at school I ran all the steps at Kezar Stadium before I came back upstairs. Gotta move my body more this year and so far so good.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

It's actually quite warm here (54), but it's pouring rain so it doesn't feel very warm. It's supposed to drop back down to 10 tonight.

Back tattoos of the mother is that you are absolutely right - Ame

The first CO TJ's opens on Valentine's Day but it is up in Boulder. I will have one within a few miles of home at some point in this year, they just haven't announced the date yet.

We have snow on the ground and have already reached today's forecast high of 17. I should turn on the fire...but then I'd have to move from under my blankets.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

I'm going to a math conference in a few weeks, and a lot of job interviews are conducted there. People who are applying for jobs and schools or companies that are hiring both sign up through a central system, and applicants submit applications, and then we get a notice if someone wants to interview us. I just got an interview notice from a company that I never applied to. It's a military contractor. I had my profile set so that any companies, even ones where I didn't apply, could see my CV. This is odd. I guess I might as well go to the interview and see what happens.

I've also got a phone interview today, for a university job that I think I'm pretty well qualified for, but I'm sure plenty of other people are, too. Based on how their scheduling thing is set up, they seem to be interviewing at least 40 people, for what the ad says are "several" positions, so I really have no idea what my odds are.
