For the record, when the year has a 1 in the middle, they should not make those new years glasses! IJS.
You are not wrong. I thought they were recycling glasses from 2004 at first glance.

It is a winter wonderland out there. I may wish I had snowshoes when it's time to go to the train tomorrow.
I think I'm going to make the squash soup I made for Thanksgiving and freeze some of it. That was a good hearty soup.
I am so in love with my new snowpants I can't even. I feel bad for all the hours my mom spent wrestling me into them as a kid, when I was too stupid to know that snowboots and snowpants are awesome.
Happy New Year, Buffistae!
I had dinner with my sister's family & Dad, and we toasted Mom and drank a really good bottle of cabernet. (Turns out my SIL had left it, and after we opened it I looked it up--it was a $75 bottle!) Then we went to a neighbor's house, where there was quite a nice party. But I drank too much over the course of the evening, and now I have a headache.
Breakfast was one of the sticky buns and a slice of fruitcake, and a big pot of darjeeling. Later there will be hiking.
Start the year as you mean to go on: I suspect that means I will have dirty bowls in the sink all year, but there's nothing new about that.
Woo, hungover on New Year's Day for the first time in years. I didn't even drink that much -- 2 beers, and then I switched to champagne after midnight. (Although I think I drank the better part of a bottle of champagne, so maybe I should amend that "I didn't even drink that much" to "Okay, yeah, I have no self-control around good champagne". But it didn't FEEL like that much! Which I suppose is the story of most of my hangovers.)
Drinking coffee and eating pretzels. Thinking about just watching Arrow DVDs for the rest of the day.
t edit Alcohol-headache-related x-post.
I made homemade eggnog last night and it was too rich for me to drink. So I poured it over our leftover pumpkin muffins, added apples and nutmeg and baked it into the Best Breadpudding Ever!
Which was a delicious breakfast this morning too.
Also, JZ and I stayed up and watched Eternal Sunshine before it expired from Netflix and we contemplated the meta-ness of it as we realized that we could rewind the movie and watch it again, but if we left the movie and went back to the Netflix menu it would disappear.
I've spent about half an hour so far today trudging through the snow. A nice free workout! Last night I walked about taking pictures of the snow using a new lens I just got that has amazing low-light performance. So the snowstorm's been fun so far. It's supposed to snow continuously through tomorrow so I won't be as happy about it on my commute to work. I'll probably take the train.

Oooh, WANT.
Oooh, WANT.
We ate it all up, we loved it so!
Consuela, I finally actually tried out Zombies, Run! It was just the story intro today, but I quite like it. Walter doesn't hear that the zombies are coming, of course, so he's inclined to dawdle at inopportune times, but I hope that I'll get faster (my running pace is actually a little slower than my running pace, sad to say) and he'll adjust to the new rhythm. He loves running, so I think it'll work out eventually. Or I'll have to find us trails where he can run off-leash, which I'd really like to do anyway...
Yes, going for my first run in a long time on New Year's Day. Embrace the cliche, I say.
