At the last minute, we invited a few neighbors over tonight. The DH ran out to Costco while I was at work and we had ham and lots of cheese and figs and chips and edamame hummus--yum! We had about 8 or 9 people here and I had a pear martini. Ver low key but fun.

Happy New Nao!
I went to bed before it came, but happy new year everyone! It seems 2014 won'tbe the year of sleeping in.
However, twitter tels me it's -17, so I'm not getting out of bed either.
Brrrr... that's cold.
We're headed out in a few minutes to the desert for the day. Sandwiches and salads made. Water packed.
For the record, when the year has a 1 in the middle, they should not make those new years glasses! IJS.
Happy New Year, everyone!
I accidentally threw a tiny NYE party last night (had plans with one other couple, wound up being 6 of us altogether) which was lovely. The other couple brought a leg of lamb they'd been saving for a special occasion, a couscous salad, and I made roasted brussel sprouts and cauliflower with curry powder. My sister and her roommate brought nibbly things. There were champagne cocktails with cognac and chartreuse - I wish I could remember the name, they were very tasty. And we all watched The World's End and paused just before the epilogue to see the ball drop and toast at midnight.
DH did all the dishes so I got up early with the kids (4 hours of sleep, YAY) and I'm letting them watch Wall-E so I can have some coffee and interwebs.
I was out at a friends' low-key party where there was plenty of good food, fun talk, and party favors. It was a very good way of starting the year.
I stayed home last night and had some sake. This morning I was all set to go to my favorite breakfast place at 8:00, only to discover they open at 10:00. So I've just been sitting around waiting.
Timelies all!
Happy New Year!
Happy new year, buffistae!
I hab a code, so we stayed in last night; a couple of friends and their charming infant came over for pizza and games, and I'm pretty sure the 2-month-old outlasted me given how alert and smiley she was when they left. Still, a fun low-key evening.
May 2014 be full of only the good kind of interesting times!
