I do, in fact, have a cold too. It is super mild, but it is the first one in five years, since I got swine flu. So I am very tired today.
But also because a) we had a great party yesterday with some of our coworkers from a neighboring reservation and b) then I was up half the night with a former student who is struggling.
Aw. Well, yay party and I'm glad you could be there for your former student!
I'm having a cheeseburger for dinner, I'm sure that's therapeutic.
so shitty realization of the day? I do not have a full gift for my mom yet. Just a kindle download code for a book. Jesusita. Now of course nothing sounds good to buy her the Christmas her mom dies. fuck.
Maybe comforting things, msbelle? Would she like a massage? Or some good teas? Stuff like that?
Do you have a picture of the two of them you could frame? Or the two of you, or the whole family. Something family memory ish, maybe.
they have been gathering pictures the whole week, she has those. We often give massages, but maybe no one else is doing that this Christmas so I could. Probably the best bet.
Today, I've cut my hair short, finished my Christmas shopping, and done a couple small acts of kindness. That'll do; I'm spending the rest of the weekend in my house.
Thank you for not burying the lede.
NP: "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas."
Perfect for Aimee's graduation day.
Matilda and I saw Frozen today - excellent! So good and neatly tapdances around a lot of Princess Issues. Great score and I expect somebody's going to be breaking out Idina's big number on The Voice or something soon.
ANNNNNNDDD now I want to get her nothing because she had the gall to tell my brother to not bring his fiancee to the memorial, but - wait wait wait - possible false alarm. I am IMing with my brother now and he may have mis-understood her. I provided a different translation of what she may have been saying. We are awaiting a text of clarification. DEEP BREATHS. Man I was CURSING HER OUT.
Oh dear. Talk about fraught.
Fraught is right!
My poor mother has shingles. Because she needed one more thing! At least I showed her how to pause the tv, now that she has a DVR, which she'll never use...
