Zoe: Preacher, don't the Bible have some pretty specific things to say about killing? Book: Quite specific. It is, however, somewhat fuzzier on the subject of kneecaps.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Juliebird,

Good grief.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I suppose that second list is more fundamental, but the first list is not insignificant.

I have found that it almost never pays to get caught up in the big-picture issues, because all you can do is today. I mean, what you do today leads toward the big picture, but be kind to yourself.

I got my father a stupid sweater for his birthday (I mean, it's fine, but so uninspired), so now I have to wrap it so we can go eat barbecue.

I am posting from a bus. It has wifi! But no electrical plugs and it's a 7 hour trip. Im trying to conserve my time, but it's difficult. I would try to sleep, but I have the headache that will not quit. We are sat in a bus ration waiting for a connecting bus to get here....the net is my only salvation.

Wifi and no outlet is like the modern Sophie's choice. Or some other hard thing.

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Wifi and no outlet? That's not sense-making.

I mailed stuff today. Go me! Now I need to get ready for onslaught of kids as we are taking some of Franny's friends to go see The Hobbit.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Maybe it sucks a lot of bandwidth? Is that still an issue on today's internets?

On honor of the solstice (and it not being a Spare the Air day for once), I fed the birds and lit a fire outside, which was nice, and now I can still watch the birds through the picture window. Very pleasant.

Thinking of you and Mac bunches today, msbelle. And of you and your family, Burrell. As an outsider, looking at your lists of things you are doing right and things you are not, you seem to be more on the okay side than not.

In conclusion, mmm, barbecue.

brillig

Have discovered another wonderful BBC documentary series: Tales from the Palaces, the story of the people who maintain the historic palaces in England, the ones that are tourist attractions now. There's conservators, groundskeepers, salvage crews in case of disasters, fund raisers, etc.
