Lorne: Snakes? Uh-huh. And they came out of your what? Okay. Okay, well, did they get up there themselves or is this part of a, you know, a thing? No, I'm not judging...Do we fight snakes? Angel: Only if they're giant. Or demons. Or giant demons. Are they giant demon snakes? Lorne: Well, unless this guy's 30 feet tall, I'm thinking they're of the garden variety.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

My proposal when I moved to Texas was that I continue to work long-distance. They said, not long-term, only until August 15. That's already been extended once to the end of the fiscal year. They've hired my replacement (someone from my team who is great). But losing someone else on the team is kind of huge, especially with so little notice.

It's messy. And OH MY GOD, the resigning person is such a flake. Who, in her defense, was treated horribly by our insane manager.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, I see. Yeah, that sounds messy.

Because books.

I think I managed to break my little toe again. Blue, swollen, painful. Ow.

It's messy. And OH MY GOD, the resigning person is such a flake. Who, in her defense, was treated horribly by our insane manager.

That sounds complicated.

Is it wrong that I find Duck Dynasty sort of delightful?

Next week is the debut of a new hillbilly* reality show set in the hills and hollers just 20 miles west of our huge university campus.

Many people are afraid that it will reflect poorly on our community, but others say that the characters involved have "a lot of heart" and that their spirit will triumph over the crass TV people who intend to exploit them.

  • the locals insist that they are not actually hillbillies but are "hilljacks." The distinction evades me.

Ann, that's a ferret.

All sympathies, Jesse and family.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

According to my cousin, a self-identified hillbilly, "hilljacks" are a step below on the rung.

Because books.

The Duck Dynasty folks seem to be enjoying themselves, anyway. All the way to the bank, one assumes.

I *LOVE* DD. Love it. It's the reason I was sad to see cable go. Si is just ... awesome.

OoooooOOOOH! This explains the crazy police presence when I came out of the Y yesterday, just before 7: [link] I thought it was a little over the top for a car being broken into. 5 cop cars, several plainclothes, people talking intently on phones. And now I know the one non-cryer in that swim class has a parent who is a cop.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I think I managed to break my little toe again

Man, I hope this is because of mad sex.

I woke up because I had a dream of my old boss yelling at me--at all of us. That we had to go out to the bar for drinks because work had been hell. I think it was the surprise that jerked me into wakefulness.

No one here posts with random capital letters. Why is that? Is it because this is conversational and random caps are only for business copy? Have we self-selected, unconsciously weeding out the random cappers? Have people learnt by reading, before they even post, where capital letters are best suited?

Basically, I'm epically frustrated with correcting copy over and over for capital letters out of nowhere. It's not something I can tie to a particular first language--people whose first language is English need correcting here too. WHAT IS THE WHaT?
