What you did to me was unbelievable, Connor. But then I got stuck in a hell dimension by my girlfriend one time for a hundred years, so three months under the ocean actually gave me perspective. Kind of a M.C. Escher perspective, but I did get time to think.

Our wings are not tired

These Los Angeles winters are just too much for me, that's why we're going to Florida in a week.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I'm feeling all kinds of accomplished for the day, even though my productivity is mostly getting my car cleared off and following up on some calls I've been owing people. Not feeling like the sole of a muddy shoe probably is helping that.

It's starting to snow/rain here, just in time for the commute. Whee.

Oh honey, the mentally unwell people have been in the fanbase since Game Changers was Stucky fanfiction on the internet. The calls have been coming from inside the house the whole time!

I really thought he had come out many years ago? Like around the 'What Would Brian Boitano do?" time?

The show itself wasn't a way to tacitly do just that? How many straight men host how-to programs about catering dinner parties?

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

My smartphone just changed Zenkitty to Enmity.

I like it. My evil twin.

We are Buffistas. This isn't our first apocalypse. -- Pix

I'm having the typical southern californian's response to cold rain.

At least you're getting rain. It's rained once here, I think, since February or March. Pretty dire, even though it's beautiful out. We've had 9 days in a row of bad air warnings: whatever system is pushing the moisture away from us is also trapping the pollution in place.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Question, since it has been awhile since I've had to deal with this (and particularly since I'm a renter).

A leak has developed in the ceiling of our dining room. I put down towels to wipe up most of the moisture and I laid them there to catch the drops (coming about once a second). But I don't think this patchwork "fix" will work overnight.

I notified the manager about the leak, and she is calling the HOA person (I live in a duplex). She thinks she should hear tomorrow morning. I would have thought she would get a 24-hour person to come figure this situation out. See, a crew was here on Mon & Tues to repair the balcony, but they didn't finish. I believe that's where the leak is coming from (since it is raining).

What do you think I should do:

a) buy a Tarp or two from Lowe's with duct tape, and cover the balcony with the tarp?

b) buy a bucket to catch the rainwater inside with some towels around it?

I also need some advice about my plane ticket tomorrow. I am supposed to leave the house at 9 or so to make my flight. Should I:

1) push the flight back a few hours?

2) reschedule for Saturday?

3) Leave it as is

The flight is only 90 minutes and there are about 8 flights from here to there a day, so changing the flight (if I need to) shouldn't be a scheduling nightmare. Pricewise...who knows?

Tarp AND bucket, save receipts, call back HOA, read riot act, make sure they have keys, move or cover any and everything in the room affected. Proceed with flight. Do you have someone you can trust to come over and check on things?

So today, I got to work a little after 7, with plans to take a long lunch to do some shopping the neighborhood over. Did that happen? No. Was I at work until freaking FIVE, which is way past when I normally am? YES.

I have been telling my coworkers for YEARS that starting/getting into the thick of big projects between TG and NYrs is futile and frustrating. Save that time period for all the little independent one-offs because you are never going to be able to get together all the people necessary, folks are trying to bring ongoing stuff to a good stopping point before they leave, no one able is to just drop everything to deal. Do the ever listen? NO. Swear to god, I get into mgmt, this will be my rule. Save December for cleanup and sorting things out in prep for post NYrs projects. Jesus.

That's a pretty significant leak. What's the weather prediction?
