not your mom's socks.

Kate, seconding the nurseline at the pediatrician - HPF had a really high fever and we did take her in. They had us alternating ibuprophen and acetiminophen, but I'm glad we went in because I was scared out of my wits.

Hugs to you and hoping all are ok and home soon.

They pay me in WOIMS

I hope the fever breaks soon, Kate.

The brick-and-mortar store had ONE PAIR left! It's a Christmas miracle!

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Yay Tom!

Poor wee Kate-baby. (I know not a baby anymore, right?)

My commute was fine! No problems at all! And my mother said not to clear snow yet, while it's still coming down, so I might get out of it entirely. Sweet.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Official guidelines are see a doctor for anything over 103, but I agree with Kat that the ER should be a last resort because, ugh, ER. If there's an urgent care center open I would go for that instead.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I personally would call an advice nurse and try to bring the temp down with Ibuprofen.

I'd be looking for other symptoms but I fucking hate sitting around ERs for hours and then having them just say, "Well, they've got a fever. Give them Ibuprofen." Thanks, Doc.

It's miserable for a sick kid to sit around an ER waiting room too.

Cats to become a rabbit should gather immediately now here

Poor hot baby. I am not a parent, but I work with nurses and I would also call the nurse line if you have it. The ER is difficult, and depending on the triage you may have to wait a long time.

They have camel rentals?

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

I can attest that they really just keep you there for hours, making sure the kid drinks some Gatorade and dosing them with medicine.

Calling the nurse while trying to get it down is smart advice. Keep her hydrated, and keep an eye on her.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

Noah and Grace have had high fevers, about that high and it is terrifying. I remember Cuddy on House getting into shower holding a kid, and I've felt like doing that. But an ER is a problem all its own, especially for a tubie kid like Grace, and, again, unless I've tried meds at home I'm not willing to go.

But I have a higher tolerance for medical weirdness than many.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Do you ever find yourself with tastes that surprise you? I keep buying slightly shiny gold "silk" curtains, when I would not have said that was what I am looking for.

Relatedly, I have ironed and hung up all my new cheap curtains! I may or may not need one more sheer. Hmmm.

Related question about my grandmother's curtains: I'm inclined to toss the sheers but donate the actual curtains. Does that make sense? Will anyone want the curtains?

Why did Darth Vader cross the road? To get to the Dark Side!

Jesse, I would donate the curtains.

So Kat, somehow the fridge didn't go yet. But I think my FiL may have claimed it? Not sure.

I am so not prepared for Xmas. Hard to imagine being ready for the day when it finally gets here.
