You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Buffista parents, would you take a child to the ER for a 104.5 fever but no other symptoms (apart from perhaps being sleepier than usual, but that's a hard one to gauge)?

Yes, a fever that high can cause problems in and of itself.

Because books.

Little kids can run much higher than adults safely, but that's a number worth checking out, I think.

I remember the crazy days. 500 posts an hour. Nubmer! Natgbsb

I found out today that today is my Friday. We lost an office worker last week and therefore we are down one person to cover the days around Christmas. I semi-volunteered to move days since I was not traveling anywhere, so now I will cover the 23rd and 26th if we have work, but I am off the rest of this week on my vacation days. My plan is to do ALL OF THE THINGS IN MY HOUSE.

hip deep in pie

Also, it is snowing like crazy, but I think not accumulating too much yet? No one is ever getting home tonight.

We are getting that overnight and I am hoping it is terrible from 5-7 AM so there might be a chance for a snowday. Especially since our boss has bookended our Xmas lunch with meetings giving exactly an hour for to go to pub, eat lunch and get back to the office. I didn't want to do the lunch, but it was cleverly boxed in so I couldn't avoid it.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Oops story continued: spoke with boss lady and ED. BL said she didn't tell intern that trip for her was cancelled, ED showed me the text he sent that explicitly stated that intern should still go. Now to drag out of the intern when she comes in why she told me that BL told her that the ED cancelled the entire trip. Either she misunderstood, or BL blatantly lied to her for whatever reason (to make intern hate the ED?).

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

We're supposed to get rain or something, but not much. Mostly clear for the rest of the week.

Kate, call the pediatrician and ask to speak to the nurse (we have evening nurses available). Have you given her anything like ibuprofen or acetiminophen or both? You can give both the first time then do the 4 hour/6 hour routine layering them. And it should bring her fever down.

Also, you can use cooling measures (cool, not cold bath, wet towels, etc).

I don't do the ER unless I absolutely must and for me, absolutely must is a fever that won't go down with meds. I try meds first then a call into the pede ASAP.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I only in the last week or two realized that there no windows even in the offices at my building. Weird. We are mainly a warehouse, so not weird, but still.

not your mom's socks.

Kate, seconding the nurseline at the pediatrician - HPF had a really high fever and we did take her in. They had us alternating ibuprophen and acetiminophen, but I'm glad we went in because I was scared out of my wits.

Hugs to you and hoping all are ok and home soon.

I hope the fever breaks soon, Kate.
