Sox's sister is going to have to give us a restaurant review, next time she's near Christchurch!
Natter 72: We Were Unprepared for This
Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
Oops.
I talked with ED that I really wasn't feeling the field trip to Longwood for multiple reasons (driving in the snow tomorrow, short work week with too many things to wrap up, Longwood has become synonomous with annoying because of boss lady, don't give a fig about orchids, and needing to be at work to deal with the snow there), so ED said he'd inform boss lady that I wouldn't be going.
I texted the intern later, who was also going to be going, to let her know that she'd be on her own. She comes back with "yeah, D texted me and said F cancelled it".
Oops. That, I did not intend. I thought it would still have been great for her to go, especially since it's her last week. Shoot, I would have been more than fine if boss lady had gone instead of me, because I've lost all figs with what she does with her time, and she'd be a better access point to the staff there.
So, good thing that boss lady's minion is out the door, because ED just created resentment (unless, of course, that's not what he said, and boss lady is using the sitch to paint him badly --my gosh, I have such negative feelings for her that this is where my mind goes).
Still, I feel bad for the intern. Oops.
I had a stupid moment today. I just mailed out four boxes, a holiday card and a form all with the wrong return address on them. Let's hop a return address is unneeded!
Sigh.
Mmm, pneumatic burgers.
I would be jealous of New Zealand for that BUT I have found that crispy duck I like over in Vacaville and I am SO HAPPY. When I lived on St. Mary in NO, we were around the corner from Kung's so we ate there ALL THE TIME and they had the best potstickers and crispy duck, so that our regular dinner order was an order of potstickers, crispy duck, another entree, and steamed rice. One time we got 6 orders of potstickers, because they were that good. And one time we got everything the menu described as crispy, and that was pretty amazing. But I digress. Anyway, it was a white tablecloth restaurant, but they always welcomed us even when we were in sweat clothes fresh from the gym, and they delivered fast if we wanted to stay in. We always joked that if we moved outside their delivery radius they'd close up shop.
And then that's exactly what happened.
And they didn't claim to be any particular regional cuisine; I'm sure it was some specific food tradition that they cooked from but there was no handy label on their menus or signs. So I don't know where to look for my beloved duck, but I try pretty much everywhere I go. Usually I get roasted duck, which is fine, but finally I have found crispy duck - not deep fried and not like Peking Duck (is that still called Peking Duck?) but definitely crispy and chopped so that the bones are chopped as well as the meat and served over wilted lettuce. So good.
I didn't try the potstickers today, because low carb, but I will.
Sorry, I had to rave somewhere.

I wish this was still around! We did go to our local Chinese place last night (Jung's Golden Dragon on Magazine) and had some seriously excellent food. I will get their duck next time in your honor!

Really?! I didn't know that.
Whenever I hear about duck being ordered in a Chinese restaurant, I go right to A Christmas Story.
Excellent! Duck for all my friends! Except for the vegetarians who can have that fake duck the Buddhist monks came up with (which I also like, but it is not my One True Duck)

Uggh! My sister has tiny feet; she's a size three. I swear to God there are no Doc Martens her size in stock anywhere on the Internet! So frustrating.
Duck is often served boneless, Amy, but I like it chopped with the bones still in.
I can well believe tiny Docs would be hard to find, Scola. Is that a US Women's 3?
