So I celebrated my birthday by getting up at 5:45 for a run in the cold and the dark, and taking Dad to the urologist. But then we had a decent lunch at a little brewpub and bought some books at a used bookstore (I got a first-edition Andre Norton novel for old time's sake), so that was pleasant.
Next I will take a nap, then watch last night's Sleepy Hollow and the most recent episode of Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which is my new favorite comedy. Andre Braugher is the awesomest.
And then I will go out to dinner with my sister and a friend at a shmancy place in Jack London Square. I may be unemployed, but at least I can eat well...
I have lived here 10 days, and am totally becoming That Lady! I am about to send a strongly worded email to a higher-up at Citibank about their policies. Since I only get statements online, they want to charge me $5 for a copy of a check more than 18 months old. In olden times they would have mailed me all my checks back! For free! And I would have had them!
::shakes cane::
That sounds like good times, Consuela! Happy birthday!
Happy birthday, Consuela! Urology aside, it sounds like a fab day!
Happy birthday, Consuela! That sounds like a good day!
My day totally just turned around: I asked the CSR at the bank for an email of someone higher up I could complain to, and by the time she came back, she was waiving the fees! And emailing them to me instead of paper mailing them! Complaining works!!
Peace to your family, msbelle. I hope that your grandma is without pain. As for the rest of your family, I hope all of you find yourselves wrapped in grace.
Happy birthday, Consuela!
Thank you!
I shall share this ridiculous Supernatural parody:

msbelle,
warm thoughts are coming your way from me to you and yours.
'Suela, I am thrilled you are feeling that getting up at 5:45 on your birthday was a "good thing."
I love the diversity of human beings because there is no way in Hades I would get up at 5:45 am on my birthday voluntarily unless it involved Idris Elba showing up at my door.
Happy Birthday!
