I'll actually be in town during the extended family Christmas, which I usually get to escape. Is it wrong that I'm delighted that this year we're collecting money to give to charity rather than doing the white elephant exchange?

SHENANIGANS!
Oh god, I wish my family were doing anything other than giving a present to every other person! Charity would be perfect.
We do that for immediate family, Jesse, but my extended family is too big.
Nobody ever wants what I bring to the exchange, and I always end up with something weird that I either donate or toss in the trash, so I'd rather just skip the exchange and go straight to donating.
It will probably just be 4 of us at Christmas. No one in the family really travels to extended family anymore.
We meant to draw names this year, but too many people refused. Maybe next year! My extended family is just small enough that buying for everyone is doable, but ugh.
Has anybody heard from ita? Do we have folks on the ground who can check on her? It's been more than a day since she posted, and that's not like her.
BevDog beat me to it (cause she is awesome).
Work today just feels so wrong after a 5 day break.
Thanksgiving break was disappointing for many reasons and Christmas doesn't look to be much better. At least with Thanksgiving, we were able to spend the day with another family, so it had the illusion of not being lonely. I wish I lived closer to family. I know, minority opinion.

Maybe you could bring a Heifer.org goat or some other donation. It could start a trend.
