I did nothing the last two days except go to a diner for Thanksgiving dinner.
My dad fell and broke his hip last night. He's in surgery now getting a hip replacement. I drove up to Appleton to see hm after surgery, but it started four hours late so I'll be waiting for awhile.
What is with all the breaking bones and injuries?!!
Be careful out there!

We're waiting for JZ's brother and wife and child to come visit. Matilda is all dressed up for her little cousin's arrival.
Yipes tommyrot! I hope his recovery goes well.
Yikes, stay safe, everyone!
'Suela, your hair looks FABULOUS! Holy cow, I am jealous.
We went to the bookstore and the crepe place this morning, and now I've spent much of the afternoon lounging on the couch nursing a cold while M and my parents entertained Rose. About to head out to get some yummy Indian food for dinner, and hoping I get a better night's sleep tonight.
In other news, I'm basically in love with the kale salad I made for TG. It was pretty easy, reasonably healthy, and super tasty. I foresee many more nights of this salad in our future. (For those who are curious: 1 bunch of dino/lacinto kale, cut into little strips; about a half cup of chopped toasted almonds; a bunch of dried cranberries; parmesan cheese; dressing with olive oil, a good amount of fresh lemon juice, 1 garlic clove, 1 shallot, salt&pepper. So good!)
Kate, do you need to massage the kale or something? I've heard that about kale and it sounds complicated to me, but I need to eat more salad.
Tommy, hope all is quickly healed over there!
Ooh, Kate, that sounds yummy.
Ouch, Tommy.
Yipes, Dana!
Aww, Jesse. I was wondering if you were going to be having some mixed feelings moving into your grandma's place. But I'm glad for you overall.
So I lounged around most of the day but I did manage to clear out and repair my pantry. I have less illusory (read: expired) food now, but much more actual, useable, accessible food that I now know is there. So yay.
Goodness, Tommy. Healing~ma to your dad.
I made a pie today, and then amyth and I watched the first few episodes of Sleepy Hollow. It's been a nice Saturday.
meara, when we make kale salad, we don't massage the kale, but we do make a warm vinaigrette (saute garlic/shallot whatever you have in olive oil, add balsamic vinegar -- but it does spit, so beware), then pour it over the sliced kale. It softens up the leaves because it's hot without needing to fuss. Then I top it with parmesan.
Dagnabbit, I can't get the TV to work. And my remote control is broken also. Woe! Maybe I'll have to go back upstairs to my parents', if I'm not going to be unpacking.... My mother floated the idea of having dinner together more than once a week. I was like, yeah, no. At least partly because I think I'm going to be getting home late from my new job! Which I start in a week and a half. Yikes.
