You always think harder is better. Maybe next time I patrol, I should carry bricks and use a stake made out of butter.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

This is why some people prefer sweet potato rolls.

Trust me, my dad would still lob those to you overhand.

Aaugh, I have to make two things of sausage stuffing tonight. I need to remember that.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Did you know that you can get away with saying "Well, we can't replicate it, so we won't fix it" for as long as six months?

This is the kind of thinking that gave us healthcare.gov, which I've found to be not only dysfunctional, but dysfunctional in ways I've never seen before. For example, it keeps sending me back to the beginning and when I go back through again, it remembers some things I entered before, but not all of them. There's no rhyme or reason to what it forgets. It remembers my SSN, but forgets whether I have dependents.

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

If you start making historical accuracy a goal, where do you stop?

For me the answer is: with the invention of the flush toilet.

hip deep in pie

I don't know if there will be pie at my Thanksgiving tomorrow.

This somehow seems Unamerican, said the person who celebrated Thanksgiving six weeks ago.

Apparently she was planning to serve fish until the other aunt rebelled.

Aggghhh! She must be stopped!

We are having a big rain/windstorm. I expect to lose power sometime tonight.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

I didn't even need to look at that to know it was Lambert's.

brillig

Brave Hubby went searching for a copy of the Hobbit so we can watch it before we see Pt. 2, so he braved the crowds. He found a sale wherein he got Hobbit, Great and Powerful Oz, and a used copy of Avengers for the price he was willing to pay for Hobbit. Yay, provider Hubby!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Mmmm. We're all munching on leftover spanakopita from the pan of it that I made for the potluck at work yesterday, and it's so much better than Trader Joe's it makes me want to cry when I think that this is the last of it.

We still have a crapton of other potluck leftovers, though, and tomorrow there will be yet more leftovers, but I think after they've all been plowed through I need to make another pan.

(Is it okay to swoon over my own cooking? It's the recipe (Moosewood) that makes it great.)

Happy incipient food coma to one and all (USians)! (Happy incipient Thursday and regular good food to one and all others!) (And Hanukkah!)

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

This is why some people prefer sweet potato rolls.

Especially if they're still frozen.
