I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Oh, hey, here's a picture of the shoes and hat that were the basis for today's outfit from probably back when I bought them [link] Shoes today [link] (surprisingly comfortable, actually, but I couldn't get a good angle of them while they were on my feet) and me at work [link]

Cutie-pie kidlets at the office barely made a dent in my candy. I think I might not bother turning the porch light on. I'm tired, I don't want to be hopping up to open the door.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Kids are home and the house is full of candy. Dylan is finally old enough this year to understand the value of selling me some of his candy, so I bought 8 pieces for a quarter each. (He is, unfortunately, also old enough to understand which is the good candy, so one of those 8 pieces was a bag of 100% fruit snacks, which may find their way back into his lunch box.)

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

We have SO MUCH CANDY left. Stoopid rain. We have a full bag of Snickers, a full bag of Milky Ways, and almost half a bag of those little packs of M&Ms.

And for some reason my notorious sweet tooth is broken lately. I've been craving salty stuff, celery, and quinoa cooked in vegetable broth. WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN.

So all the leftover candy will eventually get eaten, but I don't feel like a ravening beast around it, which is weird.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

Colleagues tried pawning off a huge bag of Ofeo cookies off on me. Had to remind them that I don't crave sweet (let alone nasty Oreos) and would much rather prefer a roasted chicken with russet potatoes with rosemary and parsnips. I'm not even a chip fan. Give me a bucket of olives still with the pits, or veggies with ranch dressing. But chocolate? I don't get that craving. I dig Almond Joy, but the joy is the almonds and the coconut. Or those hazelnut thingies, Ferrer Rocher or something. And hot chocolate should have cayenne pepper in it.

I'm the person who doesn't understand when someone says they have a craving for chocolate. When I get a craving, usually it's for spinach.

Juliebird, I almost always want sweets, but chicken and taters sound SO GOOD right now! Or olives. God, olives stuffed with bleu cheese are amazing.

Ha, I got all the cats inside, so I have achieved all my goals for the day!

I would go to bed but it is not even dark yet.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

We just had a pack of five kids - one tiny kitty, two Batmans, one not-in-costume older sister, and one babygoth older sister who was taking advantage of a chance to wear black lipstick.

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

At the fall festival on Sunday, there were two ridiculously adorable little boys who were maybe just past toddling, they were so tiny. One was dressed up like Muhammad Ali and was totally in character, punching the air the entire time he walked. The other belonged to a family of pirates, and he was on his dad's shoulders with a shiny sword, and was trying to scalp his father, and then later trying to impale his mother's head.

It was pretty busy from 5:30 (well, 4:45, but I wasn't home yet) until 8, but nothing since then. But it started raining around then. Shockingly, I have candy left. Seriously, I usually go through the whole drink bucket easily.

Lots of superheroes and scream masks. Kitty-princess with face paint is very popular around here. And they are adorable. One of my first was a little guy dressed as a frog- knitted hat with bulgy frog eyes. Definitely a custom job since his parents were sporting their own with a little bit of customization. It was his first TorT, and he was whispering :'appy 'awwoolleen... Ded.

Was also an awesome steampunk mom and her super-girly-pink-sparkles-princess-tiger-kitty (the last two a self description.)

Saw a couple kids I know have been through before. One remembered me (Oh, you had the good candy last year!) and the other who signs. After his 'thank you' sign, I remembered last year how he was impressed I knew 'you're welcome' but this year I'd totally forgotten! And I kinda said "Oh crap, I forgot you're welcome" and he grinned at me and freakin' gave me a golf clap! Cheeky brat.

Couple of kids asked Anna if they could trick or treat for a slice of her pizza.

The status is NOT quo.

Kat, congrats! NBCT renewal is no joke.
