I am the fly who dreams of the spider

At the fall festival on Sunday, there were two ridiculously adorable little boys who were maybe just past toddling, they were so tiny. One was dressed up like Muhammad Ali and was totally in character, punching the air the entire time he walked. The other belonged to a family of pirates, and he was on his dad's shoulders with a shiny sword, and was trying to scalp his father, and then later trying to impale his mother's head.

It was pretty busy from 5:30 (well, 4:45, but I wasn't home yet) until 8, but nothing since then. But it started raining around then. Shockingly, I have candy left. Seriously, I usually go through the whole drink bucket easily.

Lots of superheroes and scream masks. Kitty-princess with face paint is very popular around here. And they are adorable. One of my first was a little guy dressed as a frog- knitted hat with bulgy frog eyes. Definitely a custom job since his parents were sporting their own with a little bit of customization. It was his first TorT, and he was whispering :'appy 'awwoolleen... Ded.

Was also an awesome steampunk mom and her super-girly-pink-sparkles-princess-tiger-kitty (the last two a self description.)

Saw a couple kids I know have been through before. One remembered me (Oh, you had the good candy last year!) and the other who signs. After his 'thank you' sign, I remembered last year how he was impressed I knew 'you're welcome' but this year I'd totally forgotten! And I kinda said "Oh crap, I forgot you're welcome" and he grinned at me and freakin' gave me a golf clap! Cheeky brat.

Couple of kids asked Anna if they could trick or treat for a slice of her pizza.

The status is NOT quo.

Kat, congrats! NBCT renewal is no joke.

Pan just chained his bike to the lamppost out front.

Bah, I was all set to get a burrito on the way home from the gym, and both the burrito places near me were closed! WOE.

So I ate a frozen tamale. Tasty, but not the same. I bought $20 worth of candy at CVS, hopefully that's enough for the evening. I suspect the kids who come through first are going to feel they've been cheated...

Greece's financial crisis threatens to take down all of Western civilization - a civilization they themselves founded. A rather tragic irony - which is something they also invented. - Jon Stewart

nasty Oreos

So... they're, like, twerking or something?

The creamy filling of Oreos was always too sugary for me, and the chocolate cookie part too bitter, I've never been a fan. I can eat them, but it's not joyful, and certainly something I can totally just eat one of.

But no, no lascivious behaviour involved with Oreos otherwise (I totally had to google "twerk", that's a new one on me).

Store/bakery frosting is also evil, as are sprinkles/jimmies. Gimme cream cheese frosting with half the sweetening or homemade whipped cream with a teaspoon of sugar.

Brownies I can get behind if they are freshly warm and there's copious milk involved for drinking.

So. Ded.

There was a little girl wearing what looked like a Where the Wild Things Are in an Incredible Hulk color scheme. With huge furry boots. She was so damn adorable and I was too impressed to ask her design. But she looked fantastic.

Need more trick or treaters. Too. Much. Candy. And not candy I particularly want. It's good candy but mostly I stole as many cherry Jolly Ranchers as I could and a few dark Milky Ways.

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

No other trick or treaters yet, dammit. And my cats are unnerved by my giant witch's hat.

Trick or treating is like browsing "versions of clothes Jilli would own" without leaving the house. Except for the most recent pirate. Her skirt was stripy and should be MINE.
