Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

Timelies all!

Happy Belated Birthday Brenda and Fiona!

Happy belated birthdays, brenda and Fiona!

Good luck with the excavation, Theo.

I have bacon/blue cheese/bloody mary muffins in the oven for breakfast. I've got a big day of watching football and shopping for winter clothes ahead of me, so I hope this concoction turns out okay.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Happy Belated Birthdays to brenda and Fiona!

Kate! I keep meaning to tell you that there's an Atomic Books coming to your town! East Nashville, I guess? I'm not sure of all the details but I think we may be coming down sometime this spring to celebrate the opening!

WHAT! That is fantastic news! I live in East Nashville and we are in desperate need of a good bookstore on this side of town. Also, lisah visit!!!

Question for the hivemind: What would be the key components of a Hermione Granger costume? Ideally something cheap/easy to find at Target/Goodwill, though I am willing to also buy a bushy-haired wig if necessary.

Is the Nashville store an inspiration or expansion??

Waking up to driving dance beat from the cancer survivor race down the street was less than ideal, but at least it didn't start that until 8, and my goal was to sleep in until 8:30. Which was semi-achieved, after first waking at 5. Again.

All sorts of interesting pains from planting bulbs. And one really nasty bruise on the inside of my wrist that I can't explain. It's actually a lump, even. You'd think I'd notice doing that!

OK, off to the stores....

Blazer/school uniform, big stack of books, wand, maybe something you could call a time turner?

Wow, I have forgotten the visuals from the Potterverse like whoa.

Wear burgundy and gold for Gryffindor?

I ended up with the worst migraine in quite a while, last night. Took everything I could think of, one by one as they kept not working. Went to bed at 6pm. Not sure what eventually worked, but woke up a little after midnight to realize I felt better and my neighbors were having a party. Fell back asleep, and now it's 7am and I'm awake!

I had been thinking of doing a 5k this morning but now I feel like that would be a bad plan.

T, I want to come eat at your house, it sounds interesting!

Glad the migraine is gone, meara! Yeah, a 5k might be pushing your luck.

Eating is always an adventure at my house! Sometimes it's "what the hell is in this?" and sometimes it's just "is there anything actually edible here?" but there are always interesting questions afoot. Making breakfast before I have coffee might be the most exciting challenge...

It just irks me because I"m actually AWAKE when I would've needed to be, for the 5K! But oh well. I will finish catching up on my week of TV, and maybe go hit up another thrift store.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just roasted a bunch of peppers and am sauteeing a bunch of leeks. I guess I'll make romesco sauce with the peppers, but the leeks are just going in the freezer for winter soups.

The fire alarm in my building just went off, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't me, because the ones in my apartment did not. I mean, right? At least it didn't take that long to be turned off.

Oh, yeah, I understand that. The 'I could have done that thing after all but I decided not to and now it would be a hassle" feeling is pretty irritating.

The muffins are very tasty but look, um, not good and are kind of problematic as finger food. This recipe will definitely need refining before it is fit to serve to company. Possibly going mini rather than jumbo would help. But I think the principle is sound - I enjoy the flavor profile, to throw around a term I don't really understand. But meanwhile I have a week's worth of breakfasts in the fridge, so that's a win.

Have I started my Science and Cooking class yet? No, no I have not. Oh, self.

ETA: I support your reasoning re: the fire alarm, Jesse. And having a stash of leeks in the freezer is so smart! My pork stew from yesterday called for leeks and while it's fine without them, it would be better if I had had some frozen to toss in.
