"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Has anyone here tried The Fasting Diet? I heard about it on NPR and am interested in what buffistas have to say.

"I keep to a strict diet of ill-advised enthusiasm and heartfelt regret." Leigh Bardugo

le nubian, I like eggs quite a lot, but can't handle scrambled when it is dry and crumbly. I don't know what it is (for me, at home, it's replicated by cooking the eggs to non creaminess by having a too hot pan), but I can't imagine what they would have to do for a crepe.

I figure the pain scale is not useful and is, of course, entirely subjective. I will say when I had kidney stones the first time, I wanted to claw my way out of own skin because of the unremitting pain and there was no position that I found that relieved the pain. The second set of kidney stones were much easier to deal with and I felt like, huh, this blows, but if I drink my weight in water, I can tough it out.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

LeN, the real egg answer is that you're late to the reality where they taste disgusting.

Don't fight the feeling.

Punishingly Intricate

I think the only pain I've had that was close to a 9 was my last mammogram. That almost made me pass out. But was over super quick so I don't think it counts much. I've been very lucky.

le n, whenever I hear about The Fasting Diet I always think "I could totally do that." But then I haven't actually gone on to try it so, ime, it's not a very effective diet! I don't think I know anyone who's tried it.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I just put a zucchini bread in the oven, along with tomatoes and onions to roast. That wasn't a mistake, was it? Will my bread taste like onions now?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

LeN, the real egg answer is that you're late to the reality where they taste disgusting.

This was my thought. Sometimes I'll try something like quiche, and I'll be fine until I get a bite that's just egg.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

I did some fasting a few years ago, I don't know if it's the same as the Fasting Diet. Can't say it was very effective in any way.

le nubian, I have intermittent egg revulsion that I attribute to being inversely proportional to the freshness of the eggs, based on nothing but the fact that really fresh eggs I cook myself never make me feel ill.

ETA: although perhaps I should caveat that me being able to eat eggs at all is a relatively recent development and I totally do not understand the mechanism whereby I went from "the smell of cooking eggs gives me a headache, forget eating them, no, not even French Vanilla ice cream" to "an omelet for breakfast every day of the week is A-OK" so I am probably a poor exemplar of the effects of eggs on humans.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I *love* hardboiled and scrambled eggs. Especially when I cook them myself. I wonder if there is something to the Zenkitty powdered egg thing.

I also wonder if there is a random seasoning that I don't like that makes me want to give up the ghost. For example, some curries are nearly the death of me.

brillig

I can deal with omelets--with ham and cheese--and sometimes scrambled, but non mixed-up eggs are not done. It's the texture, for me.
