Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
bonny, what a mess. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.
Laura, I'm so sorry about your employee. Tons of ~ma headed her way. Also, yay for your DH's cousin.
Guests just left. I think brunch was a success. Now it is time to collapse on the couch. TCG's car is in the shop, and he will have mine tomorrow. So, I don't even need to make an excuse about why I can't leave the house tomorrow.
In world's colliding type stuff our Cashmere and DH's cousin J often post the same links with roller derby stuff which amuses me. So I try and explain to my cousin in Nebraska how I learned about that derby stuff from my friend in Wisconsin. They both show their bruise pictures.
It is also fun when disparate friends will share the same articles on subjects you had no idea were important to them.
Happy birthday, askye!
ION, naptime = win
Thanks for the kind thoughts.
I spoke to an attorney who said exactly what David said.
We will be sending a letter stating, "We accept your resignation, as verbally submitted by you...etc."
The attorney suggested we stop talking altogether and that paying for any of the 'damages' the guy is claiming is a personal choice on the owner's part but not legally required. She probably will do so, but I wish she would not.
On a personal, purely childish note...quit reading if you aren't having a good Father's Day...

Today I am feeling sorry for myself for a few minutes. Here is yet another crazy old man, lying about me, blaming me for their own whacked shit and putting me in a position to have to be the one to take the higher ground. Sometimes I fraking _weary_ of hearing 'let it go'. Let HIM be the one to make it right...for one damn ONCE. You know?
---
End of rant.
He is a 1099 with the company.
Wait, if he is being paid on a 1099 then isn't he an independent contractor and not even really an employee?
That's correct. Which, again, makes most of this moot.
Employee or not, screaming, spitting, name calling and threatening ought to be a no-brainer firing offense, if you ask me.
I suppose I can understand the owner's need to feel better about this. The guy has worked for her for 9 years. He's made a lot of mistakes but he's hung in there for a lot longer than most people in this industry.
We made the decision a couple of years ago to not allow him to walk dogs any more because of his physical condition and proclivity for pissing off clients. On the other hand, he DOES, have a group of fans who have been loyalty to him for a long time.
It will be inconvenient to replace him, but to my way of thinking, so what? It's worth it to not have the headache.
Oy, he has a proclivity for pissing off clients? So in a way, this was a time bomb waiting to go boom. Sheesh. And my dear, it's awful that this continues an unpleasant pattern in your life, and of course you'd like things to be different for once.
Pardon me a second, I need to list off everything I did today because I didn't do near as much as I wanted to/needed to and I need to get it all out to self-validate.
- went to Target where I 1)remembered to drop off glass recycling, 2) spent under $80*, 3) didn't buy nail polish or makeup of any kind and 4) my only kind of frivolous purchase was cute and comfy sandals.
* helps when you only bring $80 in cash
- went grocery shopping
- ordered stuff online for work
- did material research for work
- loaded the dishwasher, did dishes, put a load in the washer, scooped the cat pans, took out the trash and put the can at the curb
- talked to my dad for Father's Day
- talked my sis through yet another freakout about her move next weekend
- transcribed all the voice memos I left to myself last week about stuff I need to do
- emailed coworker checking in to see if she has issues with me/work in general that we need to address
Yesterday I worked in the graveyard, napped, folded clothes, and worked a merch table for a friend.
There's a million other things I need to do, but at this point I just need braindump into evernote or on paper and get everything ready for tomorrow. Oof, I hope this week is a few degrees cooler and a lot less fractious.
smonster, that sounds like a lot to me. Don't be so hard on yourself.
Yeah, that sounds like plenty!
Let's see...Friday I went dancing (the usual two-step, plus after went the lesbian bar with a couple friends for a bit). Saturday I went to my roommate's ice-dance recital, then walked to the Pride Picnic ($1 tacos from Chipotle!), then got froyo, and a pedicure. Then we went to the ballet. Today I worked out with my trainer, went to the farmer's market, took the kittens back to the humane society for shots, and went to a swing dance. Oh, and laundry somewhere in there. It sounds like a bunch, but it's really not.
Things I did not do: Clean my room. Clean my office. Do anything about the jungle that is my yard. Arrange to refinance my mortgage. Talk to my sister about getting her out here for vacation. Cook any food.
Things I wanted to do but decided it's not worth it: remind my roommate that no matter how stressed she may be about filling multiple pages of security clearance paperwork, that is no excuse for her suitcase to still be in the middle of the dining room TWO FULL WEEKS AFTER VACATION. PLus all her other crap. And the dishes. UGH. But she's moving in three months, and it's not worth picking a fight. I asked her to clean, she hasn't. I have, however, told her that it must be clean for Pride. If it's not, I WILL take all of her shit out of the living room and place it on her bed.
