[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

Jilli, you haven't eaten. That's the queasy. Plus dental recovery.

I miss TJ's fiber fruit things. I would go back in time and buy them all if I could. Easy peasy and tasty.

I felt eh, banged my knee at work (okay, I noticed mostly because I showered and it's one of my spectacular bruises), ICEd but then went to yoga and avoided my knee. Feel totally better. Knee hurts but it'll heal. Omg, stretching and exercise.

My rule is not to argue on Facebook. Mostly this means I avoid Facebook.

So, last night, just after the DH and I made some sweet sexytimes, I asked him, "Will you still want to have sex with me when I'm old?" He looked at me with great love and said "You ARE old." Made me laugh really hard. I know of nowhere else I could share that story but here in Bitches.

Love it! I mean, seriously, that is knowing you married the right person.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Tom, I hope your nummy sounding supper was as delicious for your spirit as it was for your tastebuds. Cooking tasty food that is also healthy (olive oil is totally healthy) is excellent self-care.

Trudy, I hope you get to feeling better quickly.

Somebody on my Fb feed posted some silly thing about leaving a gun out and watching it, that it never did anything to hurt anybody just sitting there on its own, blah blah blah. So I came back with

Dear Guns: We know it's not your fault that bigots who can't tell the difference between loud music and actual life-threatening situations get their hands on you. We know it's not your fault that lazy, forgetful POSes who can't be bothered to secure you properly let their kids get their hands on you. We know it's not your fault that those who make and sell you value their money and power so much more than than they value the lives of other people's children. It's not your fault, guns. But do us a favor, will you? Try to go off more often while you are tucked into the waistbands of the fools and bigots before they have the chance to do stupid or hateful things to other people. So much love, the rest of us.

The funny thing is, the guy clicked like on that reply.

Thrive to spite them

I should be in bed, but I don't feel good and I don't feel tired and it's like this vicious cycle.

And then I was trying to get in bed and I took off my slippers -- LL Bean slippers I want to point out -- and noticed the stitching at both heels is gone and they are coming apart. The stitching all the toe is coming apart on one and the leather seam on the back near the heel of the other is splitting.

I got these as a Christmas present this year. They haven't even lasted 3 months! Granted I wear them whenever I'm awake in the house, but I had a pair of JEssica Simpson slippers I got when Mom visited in the fall of 2012 and they lasted through March or so of 2013. So maybe I got 6 months use out of them but those were cheap slippers we got at Marshall's.

Anyway I called LL Bean they are sending another pair. Which is nice. Hopefully the new ones actually last.

I saw nothing in what you said he wrote to keep him from liking what you posted. He was lambasting the idiots who misuse the guns.

Got to visit one of the students in the hospital, this evening. The other wasn't feeling much like visitors today. Sadly, they have rooms in opposite towers, so they can't even visit each other. Student #1 was in pretty good spirits. He was a little, not sure the right word, astonished (??) that it happened to him, and when it did. And then that it happened to his classmate. So we chatted a bit how sometimes your body reminds you what's really important in life. Later, he mentioned his frustration with how slow he was recovering. I reminded him, his body isn't digital. He can't tweak the settings, to increase the healing rate. He can't bargain one activity to make the pain go away. It seemed to help a bit. I reinforced, classes and projects will always be there, and take the time he needs to heal right. We will see if he listens. He's a very anxious person, always got his foot on the gas, to get things done. Sitting still and healing could very well be the hardest thing he's ever done. His parents were there too. Flew out from Chicago to be with him. Real sweet folks. It looks like he will be discharged in the morning. Not sure how much more time the second student will be in for.

Appendix. It's a mystery, but when it goes, it does a lot of collateral damage in there.

Huh. I didn't read it that way. It was a meme he shared, not something he wrote himself. It sounded to me like it was a folksy folktale expansion of "guns don't kill people..." rhetoric.

Ugh. Roommate just texted me saying her stay elsewhere has been extended 30 more days (she was supposed to be back 3/9) and might be permanent. Grr. Do not want to look for a new roommate again already! (She did sign a year lease, but I don't think I could really hold her to it)

Our wings are not tired.

Very true. It ranges from easy fix to extraordinarily extensive and painful damage. I hope the students have quick recoveries.

Sorry about the roommate woes, meara. I find the unsettled and not knowing time to be the worst part.

I was surprised, that the second student, whose appendix did not burst, still had collateral damage. Crazy.

this mess was yours / now your mess is mine

Good god, you guys, I haven't gotten a haircut since July. (I had to check Quicken to verify that.) That's...well, that's what happens when you're fundamentally lazy and no longer work across the street from your salon. I look like a Yeti.

But I just made an appointment for Monday. My stylist will probably faint when I walk in. Hell, she probably thinks I got mad and found a new stylist after she had surgery in August and couldn't do my wedding hair. Well, once she sees me, she'll know that isn't true. Yeti is maybe not my best-ever look.
