Angel: Is that what you think you are--a hero? Spike: Saved the world didn't I? Angel: Once. Talk to me after you've done it a couple more times.

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Aww, Teppy, that's rotten! I'd cry too!

Always Anti-fascist!

Aw, man. Tep, I'm sorry!

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Teppy, I'm so sorry, that's a dreadful thing to have happen, and of course you're not blowing it out of proportion--it's important. No, really, it is. You're totally justified in your feelings.

I understand not having the will and energy to sue the cleaners. But I'm going to back Plei on the idea of contacting the place where you got the dress, or having someone do it for you. They should be glad to hear about potential problems for that fabric. And there's at least a 50/50 chance they could replace it for you, if you decide that's what you want.

And if not, then I understand that too. I've had beloved things ruined and repaired that I was never able to summon the same deep affection for afterward.

I'm so very sorry this happened.

Our wings are not tired.

I'm so sorry, Teppy. I wish I had something helpful to say.

brillig

I can agree with the "don't have the spoons to see retribution", but trying to follow up in the sense of "Don't let this happen to you!" could be a good mindset. Since the dress isn't designed with single-use in mind, the manufacturer may well be happy to hear about this problem. Unless this is why they don't sell it anymore.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Oh, Teppy. I'm so sorry. That is awful.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

Oh Teppy! That IS heartbreaking! I'm so sorry!

See? I gave everybody here an opportunity to tell me what a bad person I am and nobody did, because I fuckin' rule.

Aw, Tep. I'm so sorry. You have every right to feel horrible and extremely upset. That was a gorgeous dress (I'm sure it's still lovely in black, but it was stunning in electric blue) and you loved it so dearly.

Seconding everyone above who suggested, when you have the spoons, contacting the website and letting them know. If they still use that fabric for anything else, they'll want to know.

Also, the dry-cleaner gets the stinkeye from me, no matter what the label said. If it wasn't a fabric they were already familiar with, they should have done a test wash on a couple of inches at the hem before doing the whole garment. If I'm ever in Cincinnati I'll go there and kick them all in the shins (and be sure to film it and send you the tape along with a pint of Graeter's).

I'm just so sorry, hon.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I think being upset about your wedding dress being damaged is perfectly reasonable. And, while it's not okay or fair, I get not having spoons. Without a time machine, you can't change what happened. But I am really sorry.

Successfully injected the diabetic cat. Go team me.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

We completely rearranged most of our kitchen cabinets today so that I don't have to worry about the things I really need to cook being out of reach and causing another disaster like a broken stove. We still have to sort through out mugs and dishes, but having the pots, pans, and baking dishes rearranged is already a huge improvement. We sort of just put stuff anywhere when we first moved in, just to get unpacked, but since I refuse to ever move again, we figured it was time to arrange things more logically. TCG is a master at making too much stuff fit into a small space.
