I hope you can get on board and get a prescription from the new doc quickly, Jilli.
I saw an article in the past week or so where scientists stripped a donor heart down to its barest structural tissue and used that as a scaffolding for the recipient's stem cells to build a new heart. No rejection issues--it basically became their tissue. It's still very experimental, but it could be huge down the road. If I can find the link I'll come back and post it.
Calli, I saw that, too. It was incredible. I think it may have been on the sciencejunkie tumblr?
Hubby was having breakfast at McDonald's yesterday, and he overheard a couple talking about the wife's recent cancer diagnosis. They were talking about how horrible treatment would be and whether it would be best to just accept it and spend what time they had left as well as they could.
He went over to their table, sat down, took off his hat, and said "Let's talk." Tribe.
(He talked to them about acceptable chances, how bad the drugs can make you feel and the ways to cope, what Stage 3 really means, and what it's like to lose your hair. When he left them, they had decided to actually talk to the doctors about realistic chances and see if the odds were worth persuing.)
Now you've got me tearing up for the second time in two days.
Connie, in so many ways your Hubby is awesome.
Yep, he's awesome Connie. Such a survivor!
Yeah, I'm kind of fond of the guy. I married a hero.
Connie, your husband continues to impress me.
If ever there was a silver lining, your viking is finding it. He doesn't sound like the kind of guy who goes for hugs, but man I want to wrap him in a big hug.
