Hubby was having breakfast at McDonald's yesterday, and he overheard a couple talking about the wife's recent cancer diagnosis. They were talking about how horrible treatment would be and whether it would be best to just accept it and spend what time they had left as well as they could.
He went over to their table, sat down, took off his hat, and said "Let's talk." Tribe.
(He talked to them about acceptable chances, how bad the drugs can make you feel and the ways to cope, what Stage 3 really means, and what it's like to lose your hair. When he left them, they had decided to actually talk to the doctors about realistic chances and see if the odds were worth persuing.)
