eta: and if it bled, that's a good thing, since the blood helps rinse out bacteria. I wouldn't bother with a Dr unless it starts showing signs of infection.
Saffron ,'Our Mrs. Reynolds'
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Happy birthday, Laura!
Quick Ryan report: we went to the supermarket today. He likes this, they have little trolleys for kids. As usual, when we passed the DVD section, he stopped to look for superhero movies. (They had Iron Man 3 and Spiderman 3.) Meanwhile, I noticed they had Under the Tuscan Sun, which I hadn't seen there before, so I picked it up to have a look. Ryan's curiosity was piqued.
Ryan: "What's that movie, Daddy?"
Me: "It's called Under the Tuscan Sun. This woman goes to Italy, and she falls in love."
Ryan: [eyes get very big] "She FALLS IN LAVA?!"
So if Hollywood is interested, Ryan has an idea for a remake that I think could be pretty big.
I think Ryan is on to something - Hollywood should remake all love stories into lava stories.
In other news, parades! Went to the daytime ones yesterday, but skipped the night ones. Tom was inexplicably as drunk as I'd ever seen him, which was pretty entertaining. Aw, cutie drunk Tom.
More parades today, though right now it doesn't seem as nice and sunny as it was yesterday. Hopefully that will change as the morning progresses.
Oh! I had my first neti pot experience yesterday! Trying to make sure this cold doesn't develop into a sinus infection, and it's just a way to keep everything clear. Although I was kind of grossed out by the concept before, I think it is helping.
Don’t get the brain amoebas, Nora!!
Don't worry, I'm using bottled distilled water!
The neti pot is definitely a weird experience. But on the whole I find the results to be enjoyable enough to overcome the modest amount of unpleasant weirdness. Not like the technique of making a paste of warm water, salt and baking soda to snort - which my ENT told me about when I was a teenager with a nasty sinus infection. Yeah, it clears the sinuses alright, but day-um it stings INSIDE YOUR HEAD for several minutes.
I can't tell if I'm more envious of Laura for having a smonster, or of smonster for having a Laura.
And I have a Zenkitty!
Thank you for all the birthday wishes. It has been wonderful to kick back and enjoy the attention. My sister surprised me and came down from Otter Lake. Wonderful for my mom to have her 4 chickies all here together. And my SIL surprised us and came from Staten Island, sol MIL has all of her 4 chickes together too. Then a cousin unexpectedly came from Nebraska. Very nice.
Please send along traffic~ma for smonster for clear roads and weather. She must be exhausted. Long day yesterday with beach and party then she was off for the long ride back to NOLA early this morning. She deserves clear skies and roads. I can't begin to express how delighted I was that she and Zen made the trek to Florida to join me for this 60th celebration.

I'm so glad we had some buffistas there for you.
A smonster AND a Zenkitty? Totes envious of you!
Safe travels home, darlings.
