Yes! And their eyes never look startled or angry; just chill, like, hey, of course I'm a capybara, let's kick back.
I do have a photo of two capybaras fighting each other that says different; but yes, they do have a pretty serene look. I think that's because they're semi-aquatic. They have a deep muzzle with eyes, ears and nostrils on the top (like hippos), which is good for that kind of look.
