[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Bob's learned to live with tragedy, but he knows that this tragedy is one that won't ever leave him or get better.

I make my decisions based on years of simmering familial resentment, thank you, not food.

As is right and proper.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

Just napped for two hours. I think I'm fighting off a sinus infection.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Hil, you poor thing. Feel better.

I had to go for a medical test today and I feel lousy. Probably from the handful of Antibiotics and the three Advil I had to down pre-test. I'm meeting TCG at the car rental place and got here ridiculously early. Somehow there was no traffic at 5 on a Friday, which is unheard of. Luckily I found a book hidden in my car.

brillig

I've never been used to alcohol as a common social denominator. My mother was the daughter of an abusive alcholic, and I've lived in Utah for 30 years. I do drink occasionally--very occasionally--but I am completely out of touch with the social etiquette of having booze around. So a full bar means spirits? Beer and wine does not?

I’m responsible for my own happiness? I can’t even be responsible for my own breakfast! (Bojack Horseman)

we sent out an announcement, but honestly, I didn't care about if people acknowledged our marriage with a card or call or whatever. It wasn't about them, it was about us, that's why we eloped in the first place.

I can see why it could be upsetting, though - I'm not disregarding that response at all.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Hil feel better soon. Sinus infections are not fun. In terms of wedding, my position on weddings I attend is that the food is delcious, and it is just a wonderful party, and I'm sure the couple will be happy together. If privately my opinion about any of these things if different I keep it to myself. But i reserve the right to have a private opinion, and if something seems mockable to find a place like the Buffista board to express those opinions where the mockery won't hurt them.

Thrive to spite them

I think I went to one wedding that had alcohol before I was an adult. Most of the weddings were held at the church with the reception also at the church and mostly punch and light refreshments style rather than "real" food. Or they were held at someone's home.

I think I was in middle school and attended a fancy wedding where the couple married at the church and had the reception at the country club with carving stations and the like. I don't know how we knew the bride.

I am tired and cranky and was letting the crankiness out at work.

BUT, our overlords decided other stores are staying open until midnight or 24 hours until the 23rd, then we'll be open 7 am to midnight. We found out yesterday. I closed last night (got home around 11:30, probably got 4 hours of sleep), opened today. I switched shifts with someone tomorrow and close, but it means I'm driving home during part of the worst weather.

I'm slightly concerned they are going to decided we need to be open 24 hours over the weekend.

The money is really good so I can't complain too much.
