It's North Jersey. You can get pretty much anything delivered there. And Amazon "2-day" delivery actually takes two days, rather than the eight days I recently waited for something here.

My semester is nearly over. My students took their final exam today, and now we're just waiting for the scores to come back from the scantrons. Then input final grades, then deal with students who don't like their final grades, then done.

Oh.My.Goodness. Just chatting with co-worker. He was telling me about his gf's brother. Six months ago, he breaks up with girl, 8 year relationship. Within weeks, starts dating another gal. Within 3 months, engaged. Right now, we are 6 months out from the wedding. That time is longer than the time they have been together! And, the icing on the cake. The wedding will be a Twilight themed wedding! Co-worker is like "I'm bringing my little cooler full of beer, and will be laughing the whole time". Talk about a rebound wedding. Wow. Crazy.

I did not offer to officiate that one. Although, they are dropping $14,000 for the venue! Doesn't include decorations, food, or booze. Just the venue, tables, and chairs. And they both work at In & Out.

It's possible the family is (or families are) paying for it. I mean, I get you. I wouldn't have spent that much money on a venue, either. But some people do.

But man, what do you GET for a $14,000 venue??? Those must be some fantastic chairs.

Without being non-judgemental, I would say that if they want special effects in line with their Twilight theme, and they are in your area of expertise, and they are willing to pay your going rate, you should totally take their money.

About the only thing I wish we'd done for the wedding that we didn't was...rent a bounce house. For reals. But, in the end, there was a fucking MONSOON the night before, and the lawn was soaked, so a bounce house would have created a crazy muddy mess, so it's just as well.

But we had a fire pit, and that was pretty damn good, too.

From what co-worker said, her family has offered a little to help, but not covering anything close to all of it. His family flat out said "No! You can't suddenly say "oh last week we got engaged, can you help us with the costs", things that expensive need to be planned and saved for, we are not helping with any of the costs."

There is still 6 months or so. Who knows what will happen.
