Leaving for the veterinarian's office in ten minutes. Wish us neutral-pH pee.

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
perfect pee ~ma!
Thank you, bonny. I release the perfect pee~ma back to the wild. It did the job. Harvey's urine is slightly acidic with no medication or special foods. Boy howdy, was that good, because I was about to have to mix it up with the vet on the topic of the quality of nutrition of Hill's Prescription foods. I got to the "What are the ingredients?" part of the discussion when we both looked at each other and said, "Let's just see what his urine shows before we worry about the next steps." And Bam! (yes, Emeril-style) Good pH!
Yay for good pee, Harvey!
I was about to have to mix it up with the vet on the topic of the quality of nutrition of Hill's Prescription foods.
I had that conversation with my vet. Luckily the cat didn't need a special diet after all, because I wasn't gonna feed him that.
I just checked out the ingredients of Canned Hill's C/D and... no. Just no. My opinion is unchanged. I am so glad that younger veterinarians are learning more about actual nutrition. All the vets at this clinic are my age or a little older, so all they have "learned" on the topic was at seminars sponsored by Hill's (0r possibly Iams, but based on obvious bias I doubt that).
I have the most delightful news! You may recall I was having a spell of melancholy over the passing of one of my late DH's dear friends. Well, this took me down the path of old memories and I decided to Google another one of our old friends. This man was such a treasure to me and Steve and the only thing that I remembered was that he was from Allentown. So I searched for his name and Allentown and found someone that was involved in projects that sounded just right for him and wrote an email. It was him! And we shall visit when I do my FL-NY-FL trek again this year. I'm so glad I reached out.
Laura, that's wonderful!
Oh, that's so nice Laura!
I am enjoying the Minneapolis airport. It's actually really nice, there's tons of places to eat and lots of healthy food options! Of course, only some of my food choices were healthy, but....
That's great news, Laura! I love those kinds of reconnections.
I'm freaking out and it's not going to get better any time soon.
A local institution, the neighborhood hardware store, which I have referred to here as 'the magic box' is on fire.
The paint store went first and now the four story, jam packed main store is going up. Firefighters can't get to it, the smoke is so thick, so they are just hitting it with water from a distance.
This is four blocks from my house. The smoke plume has been seen several miles away.
I put down the storm windows and turned on the air conditioner, but I can still smell the toxic smoke.
I don't have anywhere to go, or a way to get there even if I did!
I've put a damp towel over my nose, but I can't do anything for Cagney.
How could this beautiful day turn into Hell?
