My first thanksgiving away at university, I volunteered to make the turkey for my group of friends. They were all horrified at my family's stuffing recipe - a mixture of cubed whole wheat bread, a mashed potato, chopped onion and summer savory. Hey, we like it. I can't remember whether my friends liked it (or if they even tried it).
Stuffing really does seem to be the most variable component of a turkey dinner. I have to say I boggled at the amount of butter in the Buzzfeed stuffing recipe.
My sister-in-law puts oysters in her stuffing. Some kind of Massachusetts thing.
Oysters in stuffing is pretty traditional. I wish it was a tradition in my family! But not enough of us eat them. We are going to try to bring some to eat before dinner this year.

I've always been curious to try it. It definitely won't be happening for a family meal, since my mother and sister are both allergic to shellfish.
I've been having this weird form of nostalgia for about a week where I want to watch old TV shows and movies. Understand, by "old," I don't mean Three's Company or Casablanca. I mean Ally McBeal and Dawson's Creek and Mean Girls. "Old" = "pre-Tim, but not pre-1990s."
I'm not sure what that's about, but I'm glad we don't have a Netflix subscription.

I don't think I've had oysters in dressing. My mom didn't care for them, so she never included them, and I guess it's not a big thing in central NC.
I make a vegetarian stuffing using the Trader Joe box as a base and adding celery, apples, onions, and dried cranberries. It's yum.
