Congrats, Laga!
The meeting today didn't go as badly as I'd feared. Less yelling than usual, and I pretty much just waited until everyone else had reached a consensus, and then recorded it. Then we had a smaller committee meeting afterwards, to clean up a few loose ends, like coming up with alternate multiple choice answers for some of the problems we'd changed. Now I've just got to make all the changes in the file.
I am a bad person. Everything I know to do indicates that the refrigerator problem is the compressor. It was in my last two dead refrigerators, the result being that I waited for a repairperson; paid $100+ to learn it was the compressor; then bought a refrigerator and waited for it to be delivered. I decided to skip the middleman and just buy a refrigerator on sale. It would have been more responsible to have a repairperson, on the chance it was something like a switch, but I just could not deal. It's just one more drop in an ocean of debt.
The lack of frustration of dealing with a repairman is worth money, Ginger.
You're not a bad person, Ginger. You're dealing with a bunch of overwhelming stuff, and you have experience with previous refrigerator problems. No one's going to revoke your adulthood license, and furthermore, I hereby grant you a guilt exception for this new refrigerator.
We've been planing to get married for a while, wanted to do it up right in Washington, D's home state. But times being what they are we just couldn't wait any longer and got it done in front of a very nice judge today while his secretary took pictures on D's cell phone (have not managed to get them uploaded yet). Other than God showing up at the ceremony uninvited the day has been great. Stopped off for a bottle of cava (Spanish Bubbly) and played Lego Marvel Heroes until the landlord called to offer to buy us dinner so now D is out having a smoke with him and I am contemplating changing out of my "prom" dress and stockings.
Lovely, Laga! Congratulations and best wishes for a happy life together!!
Seems like a perfectly reasonable choice based on past experience, Ginger. Plus, newer model is probably all energy-upgraded and whatnot, so no guilt. Just a choice you made. (Warning, based on getting a new washer/dyer last year - be prepared for what's behind the old fridge when they pull it out of there. Yikes).
I forgot to say
Thank-you
to everyone for the kind words and well wishes!
