Pre-phonics? I learned to read in the phonics age. Is phonics back in fashion?
'Time Bomb'
Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Is phonics back in fashion?
It never went out of fashion. It was coming IN to fashion when I was little. Which is the same time you were little.
Ellie's problem was also decoding. I have learned so much about *how* one learns to read.
I could have sworn phonics went out of fashion sometime in the late 70s. Maybe I'm getting it confused with New Math.
Phonics > New math. Or is that < ?
blood clotting 'ma for Tim!
Dental~ma for Tim.
IOmememeN One of my supervisors found out today what happens when you post a notice of a staff meeting two days before the meeting: I don't make room for it on my calendar. Sure I made polite excuses, but c'mon, if it's not important enough to plan ahead, it's not important.
Also they appear to be cutting people's hours. Not sure how that works when we are short-handed and have a lot of open shifts. I can say that I won't be volunteering to fill in.
waves hi to Bitches
The number of posts behind was so high I had to click that Recent link. Sigh. I've missed you terribly.
I hope to see good news on Tim soon.
We have been completely overwhelmed with big new work project. Up at 5am or so every day, working through until I am nodding out on my keyboard. First thing I did this morning at 5 something was recheck the last thing I did last night because I at least remembered I was nodding out while doing the work. I hope it will stabilize soon. I have managed to gain 10 pounds too! Sitting at a computer and eating take out would be that winning formula.
So somehow, swimming, eating right, and more Buffistas must happen for the sake of my physical and mental health.
While I am all mememe I will moan about my eldest child again too. The past few months he could have helped so much because he knows how to do much of what I do. But nope. Yesterday after hearing his whole 'I'll step up' speech I woke him and said I was getting ready to go. After showering and dressing I look and he is still in bed. Okay, I tell him to get up and shower, empty the dishwasher and take out the recycle bins while I run to the store and get stuff. I get back from the errands and he has done the dishwasher, and has gone back to bed. I tossed the breakfast I bought for him, hauled out the bins myself, and went to work. This was after 2 weeks of him asking every day if he could help and me saying no because of previous attempts of letting him work for me. Last time he came to the office it was all Facebook and AIM instead of focus on the actual work. He is 21. How did the product of 2 workaholics end up so lazy?
Sorry to jump in at the end and moan about my life. I promise to have positive words later. Gotta run to the office now!!
eta: Glutton for punishment that I am, I woke him and gave him another chance to go to work with me.
I hope everything's okay with Tim.
It took about an hour to get the bleeding to stop last night, but it finally did, thanks to the tea bag trick (biting on a damp tea bag -- the tannins in black tea make blood vessels constrict and it slows/stops bleeding). It's still okay this morning, but he called the periodontist and they want to see him this afternoon anyway, which I think is a good thing.
That was...fairly freaky.
