The status is NOT quo.

Le Nubian, are you moving to LA?!?

It all worked out, happy to report. I'm going to take the rest of today to make sure I don't have a bug and then will catch the 9am ferry tomorrow morning to the island. Yay. Still have to burn one sick day, but that's fine.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

feel better, Pix.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Glad to hear it, Pix!

So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

You guys would love it up here! We're awesome! I know where we keep the cool consignment shops for kid stuff! (Including, for some reason, which one Dave Matthews shops at.)

I'm glad things will work out, Pix.

GC, that sounds exciting! The moving part would be difficult, but, as you said, you'll probably be moving sooner or later anyway. And at least this way there's be an exciting new job that might help out with the move.

GC, we should talk if you leave. I would love to know where you live and how much your rent is.

Ooooh! Most definitely!

Glad you're feeling better, Pix.

Plei, I will def be picking your brain should this come to pass.

The status is NOT quo.

It sounds like a no-brainer if you get the job, Glam. Moving is never fun (if financially feasible, I strongly recommend hiring a good moving company), and I'm sure two small children won't help make it any easier, but what great opportunities. And I won't lie, the ability to have a real house is tempting even for someone as entrenched in SoCal as I've become. Best luck!

Thanks, Pix! Big Co offers a "generous relocation package," so I imagine we won't have to do or pay too much. That's a definite pro!

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

girl, I have some comments about that. Get the relo package in numbers. Moving has always cost me WAY more than I anticipated and for only one of my 3 major moves did my employer cover all of my expenses. I had to pay something out of pocket the other times.

You have a household with 4 humans. That's at least $10K I think. If you hire a company to move a car, that's about $1200 each car. I have a good car moving company rec if you need one. The guy was superb.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I also have some fairly recent experience with relocation. If nothing else, any relocation benefits end up on your W2, so you'll have to treat it as taxable income.
