girl, I have some comments about that. Get the relo package in numbers. Moving has always cost me WAY more than I anticipated and for only one of my 3 major moves did my employer cover all of my expenses. I had to pay something out of pocket the other times.
You have a household with 4 humans. That's at least $10K I think. If you hire a company to move a car, that's about $1200 each car. I have a good car moving company rec if you need one. The guy was superb.

I also have some fairly recent experience with relocation. If nothing else, any relocation benefits end up on your W2, so you'll have to treat it as taxable income.

In my case, I don't think they have ended up on my W2, but GC, your experience may be more consonant with Dana's. I have worked for non-profit educational institutions my entire career, so their reporting for tax purposes may be different.

Ideal way to relocation expenses is for the company to pay the mover directly. If they do that, at least many moons ago, it was not taxable. Whereas if they give the money to you it is. It is deductible, but ends up affecting your taxes anyway. I am not an accountant and have zero idea of those rules still apply.
