[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

The status is NOT quo.

That's so exciting, Glam!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

My parents moved from Canada to J'ca with a baby and toddler (J'ca to NY and NY to ON were just the one baby), and I never asked if it was tough. Because I don't care! Mwahahah! Someone just asked why I was cooking at age 7, and I don't know? Was I allowed to? I don't know! But the pot was there, and the egg was there, so I boiled it.

I love the absolute non-perspective of the child. From this side of things.

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Yeah, you don't think about any of that stuff until (unless) you have kids of your own. Then it's like, holy shit! This is some hard livin'!

DW and I talked seriously about the possibility of this move last night and I think we're on board if I am offered the role at the salary I want.

Pros:

  • Big pay jump
  • We could buy a house right now instead of waiting years like we'd have to do in LA (wait for DW to return to work)
  • We could probably keep our LA condo as a rental property
  • Back to the type of work I like
  • Gay marriage is legal in WA, liberal state
  • We have to move anyway at some point and Big Co will cover packing and moving expenses
  • We have talked about the possibility of moving to the Pacific NW

Cons:

  • We like living in LA and we like our neighborhood (that said, we can't afford to buy a house in our area so we'd be out of here at some point anyway)
  • Shane's co-op preschool is awesome - would be sad to leave such a nice community of people
  • Have to work hard to ramp up at new job - currently in a kind of cushy position and work-from-home full-time

Now we wait and see what happens.

That's the pain / That cuts a straight line down through the heart / We call it love

Damn, Pix, that sucks. I hope you're able to join them tomorrow. How are you feeling now?

Whee, Glamcookie! That all sounds very exciting. Challenging, too, but hopefully in a good way. Though I wouldn't envy you that move.

My friend is moving from BC back to Ontario with a toddler and twin one year olds. She just made a plea on FB for someone to come on the plane with her in exchange for a the plane ticket. (Her husband is driving.)

HMOG, flying solo with a toddler and twin babies sounds like at least the seventh level of hell. I hope for her sake someone takes her up on the offer!

Those sound like a lot of pros to me, Glam!! And if the company helps pay for the move you can get people to pack and/or move your stuff, which should make the two-kids part easier.

Our wings are not tired.

Those sound like a lot of pros to me, Glam!!

Oh sure, you just want them closer! But yeah, it does sound really good.

My poor MIL had to travel all around the world with DH and his 3 siblings when they were little. FIL was in the Air Force and she was always stuck doing the pack up, move, 4 kids in tow, unpack and settle in thing all by herself.

brillig

But the pot was there, and the egg was there, so I boiled it.

There's something about a troll there.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

GC, we should talk if you leave. I would love to know where you live and how much your rent is.

The status is NOT quo.

Le Nubian, are you moving to LA?!?

It all worked out, happy to report. I'm going to take the rest of today to make sure I don't have a bug and then will catch the 9am ferry tomorrow morning to the island. Yay. Still have to burn one sick day, but that's fine.

Love is stronger than death and harder than sorrow. Those who practice it are fierce like the light of stars traveling eons to pierce the night.

feel better, Pix.
