sj, I'm glad you got home safely.
I'm hoping to get some actual sleep tonight. To get to the luncheon, we had to leave at 8:30. Ingot about 2 hrs sleep last night. Tomorrow, there is a staff meeting at 8:30 that I suspect will last longer than the scheduled two hours. Then I have to be to actual work at 1:30.
I'd be more enthusiastic about losing sleep for staff meetings if the bosses would schedule them for times when
they
were going to have to lose sleep too.
Congrats, CJ! That's awesome!
Rebuttal letter off to my awesome sanity check crew.
Oh! I forgot to tell you guys about the wonderful thing that happened last night. We stopped at my favorite cupcake shop after dinner, and the person at the counter was this awesome punk rock girl with tattoos, blue-ish hair, and tiny devilhorns clipped to her hair bandanna. We chatted with her about some annoying stuff in the news, Pete told her the quote about
"If you're under 30, you weren't promised a future with a flying car, you were promised a future with a cyberpunk dystopia. Surprise! You got it!",
which cracked her up.
She decided to put some good out in the universe, and gave us our cupcakes as "A random act of cupcakery". I almost started crying, because it was pretty much exactly what I needed to restore my faith in the universe right then.
Jilli, that's a sweet story. Is that quote Pete's or from another source?
I was sad to find out that the girl at my coffee shop that I have become friendly with is leaving. She's moving to RI, so I gave her my number and told her to call if she needed anything.
Is that quote Pete's or from another source?
I think he read it somewhere, but I don't remember where.
Interview is over -- it went well, and she's sending me a copy-editing test to complete next week.
Now I get to go to the OB/GYN.
The rest of my day had better involve booze and unicorns.
"A random act of cupcakery"
Awesome!
Yay Teppy on the strong interview. Trust me on this, it is a delight for the interviewer to encounter people who know what they are talking about.
Congrats to CJ! What a fine young man. Too bad about the drama, here's hoping it dies down soon. Do you think it was related to the peer voting?
sj, glad you got home safely, and I hope you slept well.
Jilli, awww. She sounds totally adorbs and like a very nice lady. There should be more random acts of cupcakery in the universe.
Steph, that's so exciting! Keeping my fingers crossed for you. This interview was for the freelance gig, right? And may your ladyparts soon be soothed. Painful ladyparts make it hard to enjoy life or even focus on anything else.
Hil, at least she didn't teach history? 'Cause that'd be so much worse. Funny how she keeps talking about history being rewritten but doesn't get that she's helping rewrite it. And by funny I mean ::facepalm::.
Speaking of facepalming and arguments on fb, I'd like to extend an invitation to any Buffistas so inclined to have at my friend NC on my page (currently posting on the link about redditors dicussing healthcare in other countries). Please be polite and as non-snarky as possible, but I don't have time to constantly rebut his arguments. If he's going to air his ignorance in public, he's going to get corrected. I'm specifying NC because I have a delightful friend with the same first name and I don't want any misplaced annoyance on NH.
