Kaylee: Captain seem a little funny to you at breakfast this morning? Wash: Come on, Kaylee. We all know I'm the funny one.

Spike's Bitches 48: I Say, We Go Out There, and Kick a Little Demon Ass.

[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risqué (and frisqué), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

Sean, I'm sorry. I wish I had more than that.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Jilli,

can you NOT sign it? What happens if you don't?

Sean, I'm very sorry. I would give you soothing hairpats and distract you with ridiculous stories if I were nearby.

can you NOT sign it? What happens if you don't?

I don't know. I'm going to ask one of the HR minions that tomorrow. But Plei, because she is queen of research, found me a bunch of good links on writing rebuttals. Even better, she found me links with info and sample language for including a disclaimer that essentially says, "my signature on this document is an acknowledgment that I've read it, NOT that I agree with it or accept it." So that should get me enough time for the other team to pull me over. I hope. Unless Umbridge and HR just terminate me because it's an at-will employment state.

Weirdly, I'm not freaked out about all of this. It is going to work out and be okay.. Don't know how, but it will.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

I was on a PIP with horrible!boss and survived a while under her reign of terror. They hired a new person and transferred me to him; I asked our executive director if she could not let him see my performance reviews until he'd had a chance to know me without any prejudice. After about a week, he sat down with me, said he'd read the performance reviews, and then sat there kind of waving his hands trying to figure out how those related to the person he'd been working with.

Horrible!boss, having lost any staff to push around and having been effectively demoted, bailed - left with no notice - I'm not sure who initiated the departure. When she left, I came to realize that no one else liked her all that much. And she left a fair amount of confusion behind, as she didn't leave any information about what she'd done ... and with new people on board, I keep having to say that horrible!boss had handled it and didn't talk to me about it. The new person is totally at a loss about it because when she left her previous job, she says she spent the last couple weeks writing up information for the transition.

Good!boss left (sob) but I've been assigned to someone else who seems to be working out. We need to sit down and talk, but with his schedule and mine, just haven't had time.

So ... a PIP isn't necessarily the kiss of death, but it can be a sign that your boss wants you gone.

Always Anti-fascist!

Usually, Hec, I'm impressed by your ability to have blended your family so well.Mine certainly did not go like that, but as my mother says, divorce is a strong word, there are definitely not-chill times. But mostly y'all make it look easy.

Oh, I know my boss wants me gone, even tho' she keeps saying "I really want to keep you!" Because she also keeps saying "You have to be really sure this is what you want to do, we don't make it easy for tech writers here, are you sure you want to do this?"

Which honestly? No. I want to be the writer for the UX team, who I already work with, who view me as part of the team, and who value my work. Will they be able to get the headcount to transfer me to their team by the end of the week? No idea.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

To add to Maria's point, of four people I am aware of in my group who had PIPs, two were eventually let go (one of them after multiple PIPs, and I still fought to keep her), one is now doing kick-ass, and one is my boss.

It's work. It's hard work to keep the friction away from Emmett. And mostly we get along fine and work together and don't indulge in petty bullshit. But it requires so much effort to keep it on keel sometimes.

And like I said, it gets raw in a hurry. And like your mom said, divorce is a strong word.

Shit's all sorts of different now.

"You have to be really sure this is what you want to do, we don't make it easy for tech writers here, are you sure you want to do this?"
