Damn it! You know what? I'm sick of this crap. I'm sick of being the guy who eats insects and gets the funny syphilis. As of this moment, it's over. I'm finished being everybody's butt monkey!

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Yays and woo-hoos! For Hil and Awesome Doc, and for askye defeating Twitter and anxiety and The Shatner and also getting cable, and for Suzi and all her good news!

I took today off for no reason except all my work is caught up and I can. I stayed in bed for three hours after I woke up, slothing it up and reading.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Why didn't it ever occur to me before this week that I can watch TV on my iPad with headphones while ltc naps? It's perfect. She sleeps. The noise doesn't wake her, and I get to catch up on non-kid friendly shows.

Suzi, that is a lot! I'm feeling the stress, too, even though all of our stuff is fun:

  • 4/8: Drive to my parents' place for an early Easter celebration with family
  • 4/11: Start getting CA condo ready for listing. Deal with that until condo is listed, sold, through escrow
  • 4/16: Host Easter for some local friends (clean house, make brunch, get kids Easter baskets ready)
  • 4/22: Host brother's family overnight - in town for a wedding
  • 4/29: Celebrate Ford's b-day and go to R Ring show that night
  • 5/1: Go to New Pornographers show

Edited for parallel construction, because editor.

Hil, I'm glad awesome doc was able to see you, and I hope the steroids help.

Hil - I hope you feel better soon. I had trigger thumb and just reading about your thumb brings back the memories of that pain. I wish you the best!!!

Glam, selling a place while you are still living in it is stressful. The rest sounds fun!!! A lot of stuff, but fun. And you make me think I should check on concerts while I'm in CA. I'm already looking to sign up for the Hamilton lottery. There are a few tickets available, but I can't do the $550+ price tag per ticket.

Fortunately, we are not living in it. That is stressful! And HAMILTON!!!!!

Oh good, Glam. That does make the rest of your list a bit less stressful. I've done it twice and it was such a challenge to keep everything "show ready".

I remember being sick as heck, so I was home from work. All I wanted to do was eat crackers, crawl in bed, and sleep. But there were two showings. I couldn't quite disappear or even lounge around in my pjs. I did my best to fake looking healthy and just fade into the woodwork without infecting any of them.

Thrive to spite them

They are coming Tuesday to upgrade us to "real" internet and DSL will be gone. No word on when my bro's house will be upgraded.

Also Went to my nephew's spring play (which was more short skits with songs int he middle) Bepop to Aesop. It was very cute.

Sometimes I think I might just move up to Vermont, open a bookstore or a vegan restaurant. Adam Schlesinger, z''l

The steroids seem like they're starting to work. My thumb still hurts, but it's within tolerable levels of pain. And I've got five more days of the steroids, so I'm hopeful. (Steroid injections directly into the joint are more common for this, but the doctor said that he didn't do them, because he's not confident in his ability to get the needle into the right place, so if I do still need that after the oral steroids, he'll refer me to a hand surgeon who can do the injection, but he wanted to start me on some kind of steroids right away. I was happy that he was not willing to chance totally screwing up my hand (which can happen if those injections aren't done right) for the sake of his ego -- pretty sure there are some doctors who'd either try to do it anyway, or just not mention injections as an option.)

So, I've got steroids now, but no painkillers. And, thus, no painkillers until Wednesday. (The rheumatologist's office was supposed to call me sometime today when the script was ready, but I was worried because I wouldn't be able to go pick it up if they called after noon. They didn't call at all.)

Our wings are not tired.

That does sound hopeful, Hil. Extremely frustrating not to have the painkillers, but if the steroids do the job that is very good news.
