Oh, and now I'm about to be the worst mother in the world. I have been requested to come out to Oakland for 3 days of meetings. I want to extend the trip as much as I can to see my dad, visit friends, and maybe catch an A's game or 7 (they are home for those dates). Sounds pretty awesome, eh? Well, the weekend I'd want to stay is the weekend the kids are moving.
On one hand, me being out of their hair in the run up and during is likely a good thing so tempers don't flare in the wrong way over the process. On the other hand, I didn't help move her into her dorms when she went off to college (I had already moved to Colorado) and I didn't help when she moved out with her douche bag boyfriend (wasn't asked). I know my girl and she will likely say she is ok with it but won't be.

Ask her to save a few boxes so you can help her unpack them and put the contents away in the new place when you get back. Helping her settle in is the next best thing to helping her move. And a nice housewarming gift couldn't hurt, right?

Good ideas, Bev. The tricky part is that I travel to Salt Lake the day after I hope to get back from CA.
I talked with her and she is more concerned about needing someone to watch Jack while I'm gone. Or at least let him out early afternoon.
I just need to start planning now. The next the weeks are going to be nutty.
