Thanks. Yesterday and last night were really horrible. I finally got some sleep and Java didn't die overnight which I was feeling could happen without knowing if it was me or him, if you know what I mean. In the sense that dying is a process, it's definitely a process it's underway but I am still hopeful to have more time with him, lots more time.
I'm really sorry askye. I looked up the online "are you on the spectrum" quiz from Psych today for a friend, and took it again, and got the same thing as always, a score that is just inside the "you have aspergers" result. I'm remembering that it's the same thing for you, except more definitive because your psychologist diagnosed you is that correct? And I wonder if that had something with not being able to read the situation... I understand! I also wonder if telling HR department that you have a diagnosis of Asperger's or whatever since they did away with Asperger's, would be helpful. It's considered a medical condition and they may be required legally to accommodate that. Certainly it may help them to better understand you. Or this may be all moot if you quit. It seem like you liked the job, you might have alternatives if you talked to them tomorrow if you wanted to.
Thanks Java.
My therapist gave me the Aspersions Quotient Assessment and I scored in the range. I haven't done formal testing because the old insurance didn't cover it and out of pocket it's at least $2000. I'm not sure if the new insurance will cover it.
And I did quit. I thought for a second about explaining I have Asperger's but I realized the bigger issue is that it went immediately to corporate HR. And I wasn't happy there anyway so I'm ok with how things turned out.
{{Java cat}} Holding you in my heart as you treasure this time with Java.
I'm sorry, askye. It did seem that this wasn't the best fit for you with the frustrations. Onward and forward.
I just took that Assessment and got a score "in the range". Not surprised. Not going to bother having an official test done, though. My life is test enough.
I'm glad that at least you're not too upset about losing the job, askye. On to something better, right?
I just took that Assessment and got a score "in the range".
What's the link for that test?
Huh, 28 out of 50. I've suspected my pattern-recognition and need for routines is more than typical. If my particular circle of acquaintances is any gauge of humanity, I think most people are "on the spectrum".
35/50. Not really a surprise.
askye, that sucks. I am so sorry.
12/50. Probably the number stuff. My office/family always ask me for phone numbers because I remember them. Delight when I get fun numbers at the checkout. Other than those I am a big ole social butterfly that never does things the same way and is unclear on how this whole 'plan' thing works. My friends and family know not to ask me about next week, last minute plans work out best for me. Not great for getting good seats or rates so much, but I am perfectly fine with going anywhere to do anything last moment.
