Yesterday I sent an email saying "I want to have this done tomorrow (Wednesday)". And then had to send another email specifying that my brain was wishful thinking.

My brain is going all ComicCon instead of focusing on work. What hotel should I stay at downtown? Is it too early to ask what hotel the other coordinators are staying at? Even if I don't get THIS job, I will still be volunteering for the whole event including set-up/take-down. How much time should I take off work? Hmmm, the Monday after is July 3rd and I'll have the 4th off anyway. How soon will I have a meeting schedule so that I can plan to get homework done AND prep for the meetings?

SHUT UP. You have work to do woman. You are taking one day off this week, so you need to get ahead of the game here. Aaarrrggg.

Oh, and the few times my brain HAS taken a break from ComicCon, it then wonders about the logistics of making my cousin's 60th birthday in Tahoe in August. Oy. I guess I just wanna be anywhere but here right now.

Thrive to spite them

Good luck Suzi!

Tuesday is Therapy day. And I managed to keep my upset over the election down to less than half (overall) which is good and a couple sessions before I couldn't come up with goals and now I have two - get a full time job that won't stress me out (even if it's only for a year or so) and work on feeling confident in getting out and doing things both so I can be more of an activist and also social.

And then I was able to talk about some things that I kept minimizing and telling myself were no big deal and my therapist pointed out that when I first started going to the group he asked me some questions related to that and I wasn't able to answer and without prompting I'd just shared things and that was progress.

Also I heard back from a guy I've been talking to. Lives in Asheville some kind of engineer contractor, likes nature and books, sounds like financially very secure (and thus out of my league) but I finally talked to him on the phone for over an hour! We have figured out what to do when we meet just not when.

We're going to meet at Battery Book Exchange and Champagne Bar to chat and peruse books and wander a bit around town.

askye - all of that sounds GREAT!!! I'm glad you are seeing progress in therapy and you have a couple of great goals there.

Plus date potential. Don't cross him off just because he is financially secure. Connections happen when they happen, regardless of where people are in their life arc. Taking for an hour on the phone? That is huge. And I LOVE your planned outing. That sounds like great fun with lots of topic jumping off points. Great way to get to know each other.

I just received an email from my doctor. I definitely have gallstones. She's going to set up an appointment for me to meet with a surgeon.

smonster- I'm more worried he'll cross me off when he knows me better.

He asked me if that sounded okay and I don't remember what I said but something like "it's sounds better than an amusement park!" And less of a chance to stare at each other awkwardly, there were a few awkward pauss on the phone but not as bad as my other date.

Yes, I was a financial mess when Tom and I got together. I'd say the thing to do is, be honest when something's proposed that you can't afford and have some ideas about lower cost or free stuff to do. Like making out! Or cooking at home.

It was awkward at first, but it's easier in the long (and short) run than assuming he'll pay for stuff or making myself deeper in debt to keep up. I did dabble in both those poor choices at the start, and it wasn't great.

Nora is smart (DUH!).

Buffista gallbladders need to quit making stones and needing to be kicked out of the abdomen. sj, I hope whatever is ahead goes as smoothly as possible.

Thank, Suzi. My main concern would be how much help I might need taking care of ltc after surgery and for how long.
